I know it is a bit presumptuous on my part, but I hope some RJ's will wish me luck for the Rhode Island IRONMAN 70.3 I'm doing this Sunday. I am leaving bright and early tomorrow (7/11) from Pittsburgh for Narragansett, RI. The distances are 1.2 mi Swim, 56 mi Bike and 13.1 mi Run. I'll be back Monday night with a story to tell I think. This is my second Half-Ironman and I have 1 full one under my belt already, but each course is so different you never know what is in store. All the best to RJ!

Good luck man. I can only imagine the training required for that. I met a guy at a gym up in Ohio when I was visiting and his training routine was intense to say the least!

Just do your best so you can finish proud of yourself. That's all that matters and if you have to puke your guts out crossing the finish....JUST DO IT!icon_razz.gif

    BEST OF LUCK!
I never had the stones to try an IRON MAN or a Half...I've run a marathon and a couple half marathons, riden a bunch of centuries and half centuries, done a couple of duathlons, etc, but the swimming thing always kills me....I sink like a rock or have to back stroke the whole thing.....STAY Hydrated, be careful driving and enjoy yourself!

Awesome! My half-Ironman was a real eye opener! In fact, in some ways it was more significant than the Ironman.

    It's obvious you're totally addicted!lol

Finish with a smile .... HYDRATE HYDRATE HYDRATE .... Just remember when you are in pain, just relax and let all your hard work in training push you to the finish line. You can do it. While you are at it, might as well score a PR!

Cheers and enjoy the race icon_biggrin.gif

    good luck!!!!

but I gotta say, I watched at the ending of the last Ironman in Phoenix cause I had some friends in it, and this girl came through the finish line and she had on those long tight running pant things, and she had filled one entire leg with poop cause she didnt want to stop running long enough to take a proper dump.

so, please original714....if it comes down to it. just stop. use the facilities. then finish the race. you are super sexy, but no amount of sex appeal can cover up a pantleg full of poo poo.

IT WAS AWESOME FOLKS!!! I had to push myself to a whole new level towards the end. My legs KILEED me, lol, but it is so good and I have so much energy today I am bouncing off walls. It is my birthday today too! lol I agree with swimbikerun that a half can be more eye-opening than a full, which this was for me b/c the bike course was a challenge and the run had the worst hill I've ever done in my life and I had to do it twice. Anyway, another finisher's medal for the hook and a week or so off until planning for the next one! Thanks for all the kind words!!!
