How would do people feel about dating people with genital. I was recently diagnosed and have been feeling alone, scared, sad, and all the normal emotions. I have only been with one person since, and did tell them, but it was the hardest thing I ever did. Why is there such a stigma? Just looking for some advice.

This is one of a handful of instances when I believe a drug maker ( Glaxo smith-kline) funded research to infer that anyone ever who had tested positive or had an outbreak needed to forever be on suppression therapy.

So much so that it ends up being the boogie-man disease with no end.

Look up Herpes gladiatorum. One can contract that from a toilet seat, gym mat or equipment. ( maybe that gives some context that herpes virus is common and not going away)

herpes wont kill you provided that you are healthy

    CFrame,

You've come alot farther than I have. I'm still not ready to let that vulnerability out. I applaud you for your efforts. I've never been good with monogamy so I'm going to have change a lot about my life but it sounds like you are on the right path to finding piece with it and letting life take its course.

Find some friends that you trust and, just like coming out, let them support you. I think having a support system is probably one of the bet ways to get through this new "life change."

    Hugs! Wishing you the best!

so do all guys who don't have pics on here have genital herpes? quick, someone give me $100,000 for a study.

but, on a serious note, where is your herpes located? if it's just concentrated on your penis, a condom should do the trick.

Dont feel alone. I dont have it, but 1 in 4 gay men do (and I do know people who have contracted it). Luckily, your one of the few who knows he has it and is willing to tell people. Most dont know, and some do, but dont realize that it is herpes. Yeah suppressive therapy is the way to go. Take Valtrex, it will make it a lot less painful and keep it from spreading to others. On Valtrex most infections disappear within 2-3 days compared to 1-3 weeks after initial outbreak (from what ive been told). And yes, I wouldnt mind dating someone with it as long as they were on Valtrex and suppressive therapy. Thousands of men and women have it with a partner who doesnt and take the necessary precautions such as condoms and valtrex. With this, the percentage of transmission is lowered.

    Good luck icon_smile.gif
