This has been going on for a while from my observations. I mean, some guys wear them to keep their calves warm, mostly basketball players... But my gym doesn't have a basketball court. icon_lol.gif

Besides, most bodybuilders have gigantic calves. I don't see how they can stuff em in those little socks.

You know, you don't have to be a slave for current fashions. If you don't like 'em, man up and just refuse to wear them.

They work only if shorts are NOT knee length or longer....otherwise it looks ghetto. High socks with shorter shorts make the thighs look amazing.

Of course--this works ONLY on toned, muscular men. I've seen it fail big time.

(This look reminds of high school back in the early 70's)

I like long socks, but I have abnormally long legs for my height.

I've noticed it at the gym. Especially the black ones. I feel like some do it to hide the legs they don't train. I stick with the ones around my ankle.

i have to wear them when i skate. Protects my legs from blisters caused by the tongue rubbing on them. I wear skate socks though, which are paper-thin.

I wear them all the time @ the gym/really show off my legs/compliment my adidas shorts-- I'd recommend polo branded argyle socks--more of the lighter colors (blue yellow Greys etc)

I try to not worry about what others do, but I don't follow this trend. The way I enjoy my socks are either below the ankle or up to the knee (soccer socks). Anything between doesn't really float my boat and maybe from their eyes it makes their calves look bigger but I disagree on that argument from my perspective.

Is there any other reason to go to a gym?
Working out can be done at home.
Gyms are, by their very nature, for cruising. icon_cool.gif

lol...for years kids would not be caught dead pulling up their socks and now because NBA players started doing it they follow just like what happened with the oversized baggy shorts. I do not think it makes their calves look bigger, it makes them look smaller because for one black is a slimming color and two you then end up seeing the behind of the knee which isnt very big. To me people where them to cover up their lack of calves not because they want to show them off.

Short socks are great for my circulation..... the only time i wear medium socks is when i wear boots or rollerblades. I can see it for soccer or where you need to protect your legs.... otherwise i think i'll be bucking that trend. BTW next time you see a doctor ask him what your ankle pulse is like. I cycle mine is quite strong....r
