This will teach me for going for the budget gyms (£15 a month in the UK). Aye I can bring in my own water but its a bit of a hassle seeing I down about 3 bottles worth per session. Am I right to bitch about this? Have I been taking water taps in gyms for granted too long? Guess I get what I pay for...

Swallow your pride, and bring your own water bottle. Don't like to use more than one? Buy a 40oz bottle. That is all.

lol no reason to be a dick. Not having a water fountain/dispenser IS a rather weird thing in a gym or exercise setting that you pay for monthly.

I did. I just presumed it would have water like every other flamin' gym I've been in!!! I was more interested in the weights area!

Talk to the management. A gym without water is like a sauna without hot nekkid guys.

I'm shocked giving that installing a water fountain is cheaper than a lawsuit if someone were to die from dehydration.

I'm not being a dick. Sorry, you're hearing that conveyed in cold text. Why complain about something he can't change. Go to the solution and leave it at that. Boo hoo, no water the helpless.

C'mon ladies!! Stop fighting. I am seriously just wondering if other gyms don't have water fountains, I feel slightly cheated but on the plus side, I am paying for what I get (and the weights area isn't bad and I like the location so hey ho). I will bring a ton of water with me! The gyms I have been in have water on tap, so you're able to refill your bottle. At that gym there is not even a tap.

Reminds me of my old Powerhouse gym. Thirty thousand square feet of the #1 hardcore gym on the east coast brimming with pro bodybuilders refilling their gallon jugs of water from the one water fountain in the whole place. How much could it possibly cost the owner to replace the single dispenser with a dual model?

Bring your own water. Save your money (& the planet); don't buy bottled water from your gym.

Which is fine, I tend to bring my own water bottle anyway at the gyms - I maybe should've clarified (especially to the ones above me who seem to have got a little overheated (you know who you are) that its the water tap I'm after - I have to use the taps in the bathroom if I don't use a ton of my own. And is the water from handtaps clean???

And while its not really a big problem, I'm just...surprised at it! I did wonder how many other gyms didn't have water fountains...

    Maybe the gym is Scottish.

Isn't there a tap in the wash room or change room?

Just fill your bottle there... carefully. LOL

I agree. Should we tell football players who die from dehydration or heat stroke that they should of brought their own water?

It's astounding that a gym wouldn't have water readily available. Is it perhaps because they have other liquids available for which they can charge? Many years ago, car service stations always had a water fountain but now they don't, the reason being that it would reduce their sales of bottled beverages.

Filling water bottles in the public convenience may not be practical. Often faucets are so low that they cannot be used to fill bottles.

Bad facility ... I'd be curious to hear what the place is like in general.
My suggestion is to go elsewhere, unless there is really sometihng about this gym that you find positive (except for the price).

That's just bizarre. I've seriously never heard of a gym not having a water fountain. I guess you get what you paid for....lesson learned.

I thought most people brought their own water bottle to the gym anyway? Take the money you saved on the cheaper gym membership and buy 1L Nalgene bottle. Problem solved. icon_biggrin.gif

Like I said - I DO take a water bottle to be refilled! And I should've clarified that. Its just I'm surprised there's not a fountain in the gym. Whole purpose of this thread was to find out if other gyms had fountains in them or is this just typical of the budget gym. Feel like I'm repeating myself so gonna let this thread go. G'night!

I agree, water is so essential when you are working out that I can't even imagine a gym without one.
