"Just 35 percent of conservatives said they had a "great deal of trust in science" in 2010, a 28 percent decline since 1974, when 48 percent of conservatives—about the same percentage as liberals—trusted science. Liberal and moderate support for science has remained essentially flat since 1974, according to Gordon Gauchat, a sociologist at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He published his findings in the journal American Sociological Review."

This does not bode well for America. We need more scientists whether liberal or conservative. If people are really concerned about making jobs, why not encourage scientific discoveries?

    Science and technology go hand-in-hand.

mizzouguy10 saidConservatism is an ideology that views everything else as ideologies. There are no facts or truths in the world, only 2 sides to every argument.

You realize of course that you've just put forth a Marxist point of view... but for some reason labeled it "conservative".

And Conservatives didn't lose trust in Science (as is clear from the fact that higher education correlates to an increasing distrust). If one reads the survey, they distrust those who run the institutions of Science™.

A pretty key distinction in a culture where everyone treats the words of a scientist as though they were Gospel... even if that scientist has been absolutely wrong his entire career (*cough* Paul Ehrlich *cough*)

If you don't understand that a Marxist theory of truth rejects objective Truth as "bourgeois" in favor of a revolutionary Truth, then you don't know enough about Marxist history to really receive what I'd have to say about it.

And you've made it clear you have no earthly idea what you're talking about... Marxist critiques of bourgeois truth have nothing to do with the physical sciences... icon_rolleyes.gif
