Columbus is fun. I think its the only Midwest city other than Chicago that actually has a thriving gay scene.

    Drinks/dinner/socializing: Level, Union Station
    Dance: Axis
It's 18 to get in, 21 to drink in Ohio.

As far as the rest of the city, the whole Short North area (High St.) is very gay and there's always people around.... Gooddale Park has a lot of events and has gay sports leagues.

Ohio State is the largest undergraduate campus in the U.S. and it is just a few miles north on High Street. I would say check their calendar to see what events, plays, sports, speakers, etc. are happening (although during Easter weekend probably not a whole lot.)

Sports, there's the Columbus Crew soccer, Blue Jackets hockey, and Clippers baseball.

Downtown wasn't too exciting, but I didn't really get to explore there a whole lot. It was mainly big office buildings named after insurance companies.

Shopping, Polaris mall is probably where you want to go, or maybe Eastland. You can take a drive by the Abercrombie campus if you're bored.

Like most cities, there are bad areas, but Columbus is pretty safe.

Ohio people are really friendly and know how to have fun. I think you'll have a great time there!

Go to NYC, San Diego, Denver, Chicago or some other, more befitting destination.

    Yes, I'm a geography snob.

THIRDCOASTKID pretty much nailed it. Except for shopping do not go to Eastland mall. Easton is better than Polaris too.

I would have to believe the first thing you would want to do upon landing in Columbus OH is to get on the very next plane out of Columbus OH.

Spoken like someone who has never been to Columbus.

I've live in a ton of different places. I've spent a lot of time in Columbus. It's a great, young town that is very gay friendly, great food and more than enough to do.

Be sure to see the spot where the Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria came ashore.

You're right, you shouldn't even fly into Ohio.

    Dude, you live in Missouri.

I think you have the two cities confused. Akron is the place where the Chrissie Hynde came ashore, but her city was gone. Way to go Ohio.

    It's different for you though.

    You have seen Cleveland.

    You have perspective.

I hope that wasnt a shot at cleveland. But i've also lived in NYC, upstate NY and other places as well. So yes i do have perspective. Columbus is a great place to live. You can make a great living, afford a NICE house, tons of entertainment, gay friendly, great food, great golf and generally nice people. Is it a 24 hour party like NYC? Nope. But there are things you can't get in NYC that you can in a smaller city like columbus and Cleveland.

It was kind of a double, actually.

That's fine. I've lived in NYC. Not worth the expense and the hassle. Not to mention I can probably fit his entire apartment he RENTS in my living room that I OWN. ;)

I want to go to that house. There's a keg of Budweiser somewhere. I can see the red plastic cups in the cupboard.

Columbus can be fun. An above poster mentioned Level, Union and Axis. I'd also add Havana and Wall St. The entire Short North stretch of High St (running from the Convention Center north to 5th Ave.) is fun, very gay and has a lot to do. If it's a warm day you will see hot men.

There is some great dining in the Short North alone: Lemongrass, Northstar, Level (they have a decent kitchen in addition to being very similar to Therapy in NYC,) Jeni's Ice Cream (an absolute Columbus must visit,) Rigsby's, Cafe Mojo, Zen Cha, Martini, etc.

Beyond the Short North, check out the Grandview neighborhood. There are some great places over there, especially Spagio's.

Easton is a fun place to shop/people watch/dine, although it's more chain oriented. Polaris, northeast of the city, is a fun shopping area too. In the Polaris area there is this one Italian restaurant that is amazing - Carfagna's Kitchen I think is how you spell the name.

You should also check out German Village and Bexley.

Didn't say I didn't love it. I just know how many younger people can't stand their own company and blame it on where they happen to live/visit.icon_wink.gificon_cool.gificon_lol.gif
