Thats an epic way to end off Season 1 though, I wonder whats going to happen to Daenerys with her newfound "pets".

Yes I did, an it was really good. For as much as is going on in the first part of Book 2 they did a really good job. I love the casting for Melisandre, Davos, and Stannis ,really good choices. The Stannis actor did a really job, that is almost exactly how I pictured him.

I also liked how they eluded to a lot of things that are upcoming in the next two books (Brann's Dreams, Melisandre and the Fire God, Mance Rayder, etc.)

Only bad part is I have to wait till next week to watch more.

I didn't catch the 1st season during it's original run, but I watched it on demand over a long weekend.

They really got into the meat of the action in the first episode.

I watched and I loved it! Joffrey is such an evil little fucker.

The only thing I didn't like (and it's a minor complaint) is that the look of Craster is way off. He's supposed to be a burly, menacing wildling. But he's a minor character, so no biggie.

I'm about halfway through Clash of Kings and I thought that the Dragonstone part was extremely condensed and it felt very rushed, we didn't get a feel for how important the characters were and it was slightly dissapointed.

Yay for Tyrion, Peter Dinklage is doing an awesome job.

Truly the opening to an Epic season... so many plot lines in motion, all quite interesting. I have admittedly NOT read the novels, but I get the feeling that Game of Thrones will continue to be as layered and complex as the medium of television will allow!

Fantastic acting and script writing... love this series!

So very true. Many "weak" characters survive and become pillars of strength.

The writers are brilliant IMO. Rewatching Season 1 this weekend during the marathon I realized I missed so many things the first time around. There are a lot of small moments that convey a lot - eye glances, small lines of dialog.

Reading and talking to people's reactions to episode 1, I realize I need to watch it again because I still think I missed some of those moments.

I kept saying throughout the episode "Where's Arya?!" (Her storylines are my favorite in the books) Happy we got a snippit of her at the end..

Havent seen the show yet. Started the first book a week ago. I had to put the book down for a day or so when I got to page 50 and Martin had little Bran have his fall. (How could he do that on page 50!!) Knew then and there that this series was going to be a roller coaster ride. No character is safe!

Yes! My nerd boner is still fully erect, even now.

Best scene last night was the power discussion/threats between Cersei and Littlefinger. Never threaten a Lannister...unless it's Joffrey.

As a huge fan of the books, I ordered HBO just for this series.

I love how well they have developed the characters; exceptional.

The nerd in me, however, gets bent out of shape that they are going out of order in the story arcs and are being a bit too explicit with some of the more subtle undertones in the books.

ie. Renl Baratheon's relationship with Margaery Tyrell last episode.

I find that complaint so strange. And I've heard it from other fans.

The books are told in a strict POV structure. Only events that are seen by the POV characters get page time. If they followed that structure for a TV show, it would be confusing and not very interesting as it would just be the POV characters standing around giving a bunch of monologues.

I for one enjoy the additional scenes. It keeps the show fresh despite having read the books and already knowing what's going to happen.

Right that is the struggle.... you dont get to understand the THOUGHTS of the individual, and 'know' what they know already. I guess just some of the subtlety of some of the relationships get stripped away. I GET why they have to do it... but wish they didnt.

I find it more curious how they change the order of whats gone on... Dany for example, in the book, was pretty much glossed over until about 1/2 way through.

I suppose for the TV viewer, you kind of HAVE to keep them engaged with her... otherwise they'd forget.
