Hey RealJock members, I'm doing a study for my graduate research methods class concerning parenting style. If you have 5 minutes could you please take it, once the study is done I'd be happy to discuss the purpose, results and all of that. By the end of the study it will tell you more information that I'm not supposed to mention before you take it.

One note: If you have a lot of exposure and training in psychology and counseling please do not take the study all other backgrounds are welcome.

Thank you very much in advance for taking a little time to do this, you're really helping me out!

I love surveys that include 30 in the lowest age group!

But I'm finding the first page hard to answer. It's lumping discipline with warmth, and those of both parents into the same question. It's hard to choose a single answer when I have examples of each parent doing both.

hey. Do you ever call Dr Clifford Pincus "Clifforus"? I so would.

hahah, yeah, for the record I never make fun of my professors name. In case he should ever stumble upon this..That sounds very Roman too Clifforus icon_razz.gif

Sorry about the poorly worded questions, issues like that we were aware of in the outset but we weren't too sure how to change it. I guess I could say just answer each question as close to the truth as you can or the parenting stlye you were MOST influenced or exposed to. I realize some of them lump somewhat separate concepts together too

I found them hard to answer as my parents both treated me completely differently. My mother was a loving and caring parent, my dad abusive, uninterestedf and hateful.

Yeah, we sort of forgot to account for that, lol. Differing parenting styles from different parents! I suppose we are hoping people will answer from the perspective of whichever parent had the most impact on them from their own perspective.

    And thanks joe_diesel1

Far be it for me to tell someone how to raise their own children... I may never get to see the day when I can adopt a child with a life partner.

    Did your survey. Not bad.

    Thanks for doing it!

And if that is what you want to do (adopt a child with your life partner someday) I hope you get to do it, but raise them well (see I can tell you how to raise your child because I'm the all knowing researcher! lol j/k)
