The season is underway Friday (not counting the Japan games) and this season looks to be a fighter. There were a lot of solid trades and the new 2 wildcard set up will add some spice. The AL East will be a powerhouse all around even down to the Orioles and Blue Jays. I see the AL West going down to the end this year between LA and Texas.

In the NL East, Philly is always a powerhouse but Atlanta may comeback trying to redeem there collapse and Miami's off season acquisitions may prove pivotal. NL central is just a god awful division......but somebody has to come out on top. Posey is back for the Giants and they still look strong. However I only see a fight for the top 2 in the West.

Predictions:

AL
E-Rays
C- Tigers
W-Angels
WC- Yanks & ChiSox

NL
E-Phillies
C-Cards
W-Giants
WC- Miami & D-Backs

Logical World Series: Tigers/Giants
My World Series: Rays/Phillies. Redemption of that horrific rainy messed up '08 series.

Sleeper pick in the NL East: Nationals. If Strasburg is healthy and Gio Gonzalez has a big year, they will make some noise in the NL playoff picture.

I'm a Braves fan, but I see too much young, inexperienced pitching for now. That, plus Fredi Gonzalez is not my idea of a good manager.

Philly could be due for a fall if Howard and Utley have a hard time coming back.

The Fish could have a big year. I'm wondering how Josh Johnson will be able to come back (especially since he's on my fantasy team - ) and how Hanley will do at third.

I just love baseball players in their long white socks -- esp the White Sox.

I would like to see them do well, actually....but not against the Rays!

What is the latest on the new stadium in San Jose? And I am happy to see that "Aussie" and former Ray Grant Balfour is the new closer for the A's. I always liked him.

I'll be watching the Phillies at PNC on Sunday. Ugh, what a team for the Buccos to open up with.

Not all that sure how much. Easter present from the parents. Tickets to PNc park all that expensive though.

Right before the season started, I told my friends the Red Sox would win only 60 games. I think I was over-optimistic.
