    Ready

    Set

    Go!

I'll go first, I have to say i'm proud to be gay because I know what it's like to be different and what it's like to want to be accepted, resulting in me being a very open minded, accepting, and very caring person. I just love people for who they are, no matter what.

    Unless your an asshole!

I'm proud to be gay because before I knew I was gay, I stood up for gay people. If a feminine guy got picked on, I'd tell the guys that just because he didn't act like them didn't give them the right to pick on him. But then again, I did that with everybody who was "different"

SO...I guess because I know what it's like to be hated for no reason and can empathize with any injustice or prejudice.

I'm just proud to be myself, regardless of sexual orientation. The earth is like 4.5 billion or so years old, and I only get a 2-digit number of years to enjoy it. It's nice to be here, even though it sucks sometimes. icon_biggrin.gif

    This.

My preference for dick is irrelevant to who I am deep down.

that's beyond the point, a lot of people are shameful of being gay, so what i wanted was the reason at how you became proud of being who you are in being a gay person.

It's nothing I'm openly proud or ashamed of. It just is what it is. It's kinda like saying to me, why are you proud of having brown hair?

    Jewlicious saidIndependence.

I left home at 17 when my parents found out about me. Before then I knew what it was to have everything I wanted, I was overly dependent on them and a bit naive. Everything changed overnight, I was kicked out from home, no where to go etc, got myself a few jobs, finished off schooling. Now I have my own house, I have my bf and I am well off without my parents or their money. If I was not gay I probably would have still been in my parents house living off their money.

Also glee makes me so proud to be gay lol icon_smile.gif

That is such an amazing answer, You should be proud of yourself! lpeople like you are the kind of people i look up to. Good on you man honestly.

My parents are supportive, but if they woren't i would hope that i would have had the strength to do what you did.

I'm proud to be myself. I'm gay.

I feel good about myself. That means every part of what I am. Unfortunately it took me a while to get where I am but now that I am here I really hope others can see me and hopefully accept themselves and feel better a little earlier.

Tell me why your [sic] proud to be gay!

I tend to be proud of many things I've done and have been, gay being one of them. When I wore a uniform I was proud to be a soldier, and I was proud to be a motorcyclist, 2 things that strongly defined me for many years.

Because I'll avoid things about which I am or might become ashamed. And if I can't additionally be proud of them then I usually lose interest, or won't put my heart into them.

In the case of being gay, it was perhaps the happiest turning point in my life, giving me a whole wonderful new outlook on life and on myself, redefining & bettering me in ways I never thought possible. And I think I can be proud of that, and very grateful.

    Actually, that's the whole point.

It's not about being proud of who you like to fuck, it's being proud of the fact that you can fuck.

I'm not proud of being gay. I've accepted it. I have gay self-acceptance. I used to be ashamed of my homosexuality. Now, I realize it won't change so I should just embrace it. I'm not proud of being gay, because I have a boatload of other accomplishments I'd rather be proud of than being born as a gay man.

This sums it up for me as well.

I have never had any problems with being gay, and it was trivial and in many ways inconsequential to me once I figure out I was. There is really nothing to be "proud" of really. There is also nothing I am ashamed of. My view on my sexuality is pretty much neutral when it comes down to it, it is what it is.

I place other aspects of my persona on a much higher pedestal and make them cornerstones of who I am. Such as being a chemist, for example.

I'm NOT proud to be gay. It's just the way it is. Period. If I could change it, I would----yesterday.

As others have said I find myself being proud of me as a whole, being gay is one aspect of my life. I dont think it is actually possible to be proud of being gay in of itself I mean ...Im so proud that I perved on that hot guy over there, or... Im so proud of the way I just fucked that guy.... or Im so proud that my sexuality is different to the norm.
It doesnt make sense to me to be proud of my sexual preference. Straight people arent, or are they? I think its a little narcissistic to be proud of sexuality.
I am however and never have been ashamed of being homosexual except maybe at a pride paradeicon_rolleyes.gif

Sounds like, deep down inside, you still are to some degree.

the way your post is written it reads like you're happy with your "other" accomplishments, but still question why you had to have a different sexual preference than the majority of the population. I just call it nature's birth control, because if a gay man wants to have a baby, it's thought out and planned...not a random drunken frat party night with all the sorority ho's.

I'm proud of the fact that I'm gay because it isn't always the easiest path... adversity building character, yadda yadda.

But it's only one facet of who I am. I'd hate to be defined by one thing... something with one facet is a pane... boringly transparent and simple. Whereas a lot of facets leads to reflected and diffracted light, complexity, and beauty.

More eloquently put than my previous attempt. My being gay has shaped who I am today for sure.
So It looks like Im proud to be gay for the person it made me today.icon_biggrin.gif

yourname2000 saidYup. And I think we're more creative. I think once you break a few molds, the rest of them don't look so sacrosanct. And maybe a bit of self-doubt ensures you're always looking to show value to others. Whatever it is, I think we're each more likely to cut our own unique path compared to our hetro brethren.

I am not proud to be gay. Being proud of something you have no choice in just doesn't make sense to me. It is like saying that I am proud of being caucasian, or of having brown hair. Being gay was not a choice and I didn't become gay as a result of any personal effort.
People confuse being proud and liking, accepting something with joy and satisfaction. I don't mind saying I like being gay. I like that part of who I am, because it has made me more compassionate and accepting of all those people who seem "different".

I'm proud to be gay because...well...frankly...men are f*cking hot and I enjoy having hot sex with them.

And as such it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things because I am me and that's just the way it is.

And yes, there are some fine men on this site and I'm proud of the fact I can "see" them on a daily basis.

And gays wonder why they have the reputation that they do...
