I really like Nicki Minaj, mainly her personality and her stage presence. Having had the album on repeat this last week, I can definitely say it's a mixed bag of tricks. It's all over the place and doesn't really feel cohesive.
Roman Holiday - My favorite track. I love Roman and how in your face he is about how awesome he is. It's one of my anthem tracks already. Come on a Cone is awesome too.
As for most of the other rap numbers, they're all pretty much ruined by the men she features with. I love her and her rhymes, but the men butcher her awesomeness with their traditional chauvanism and uninspiring performances.
The pop section is really hit or miss as well. Starships and Pound the Alarm are nearly identical (both good, but really should not have followed each other in the track list). Beautiful Sinner and Marilyn Monroe are standout tracks though. Fire Burns feels like the continuation to Save Me from her first album. And of course I'm all over Stupid Hoe.
The bonus tracks from the deluxe are nothing special. Don't get me wrong, I love Turn Me On, but it's not new. Va Va Voom is catchy.
All in all, this album won't make new Nicki fans, but for the ones who like her already, it's great to get some new material!
