Just read a thread that basically trashes my religion, and then one with a kid being bullied on the bus. School shootings, politicians fighting against homosexuality, homosexuals fighting against christianity, racial divide, every part of the population strives to make anothers life difficult in some way or the other....

Yes other places have discrimination, but with most there isn't the illusion of BS, it just is what it is

    News flash: kids emullate adults....

My LITTLE opinion, would like to know yours

"None so blind as those who will not see"....and you won't even read a friggin' profile.

    Weak.

(I'll leave it to an actual America to point out that in making your point that it's horrible to tar an entire group of people you just tarred an entire group of people.)

It is an opinion based on mine and several others observations and this is a discussion on the matter.... Where did that free speech approach go?

As far as you being Canadian or me needing to check the profiles of each poster..... Really? That's your dispute?

Im intersted to know how things have changed. When I grew up I was bullied continuosly, all I got told was suck it up.
I dont condone bullying in anyway but im beginning to think something has changed, either kids are way more brutal these days, which after my own experience is hard to believe, or parents of the cotton wool generation are just over reacting ......again.

My title and opening statement was directed at Americans, your name and nationality was not mentioned, but you right.... I should not have limited it to Americans... My sincere apologies to ALL Americans. Clearly you and your country deserve a piece of the intolerance pie aswell....

You win....and as your prize you get the right to insult the belief system of billions of people around the world. Canada is lucky to have you

Sorry that you were bullied..... I myself was lucky to be part of a system that really didnt tollerate it. I think bullying is bullying no matter which way you cut it. Do I think it's become more malicious ... Definately.

I recall a college hazing ceremony that occurred in my country a few years back that involved kids having to drink urine..... It made national news, the reputation of that university suffered, and kids were expelled and formally prosecuted.

Or more recently a racially motivated verbal assault at a virgin owned gym near by.... Richard Branson himself sent out a press release and the guys membership was suspended.

Kids have just become more creative...... I keep hearing about zero tolerance in the states.... Do you think it's being implemented well.... Is it widespread or only in more structured parts of the country?

I was pointing out your error regarding my nationality and the hypocrisy of referencing it in the first place.

Anyway my point.... Don't belittle the belief systems of others..... You most certainly have the right of free speech, but you also have the responsibility of making sure it is used wisely and isn't hurtful to others

I'm sure the kids doing the bullying call it light hearted fun aswell, like you do when you refer to Christianity, you say I am mixing topics or comparing apples to oranges in a way..... But being Christian is very personal to some people, in fact more so than their own sexuality....

I doubt I will change your mind, or you mine.... And that's kewl.... I respect your right to be different

Your country is lucky to have me, too....I give South African's something to feel self-righteous and indignant about. I'll bet you've never felt so proud. icon_lol.gif

My Easter gift to you. You're welcome. icon_biggrin.gif

Self righteous no...... We have one of the highest crime rates in the world, one of the highest HIV rates, our politics are messed up..... But we do have a very liberal constitution and alot of other great things.... Ubuntu being one of the things I appreciate, so yes proudly South African, but for completely different reasons my friend

Yup expecting people who should know better to be essentially decent....... The audacity..... The nativity.... The nerve I have.

Idealistic "hoping for a better future" youth.... What has this world come to

Don't worry, I will not be expecting that from " people on the Internet" anymore.

I agree America does have it's very own form of Bullying. One being if you want to make it in America, you must sound like one. Yet they refuse to adjust when out of America either.

The people of Canada do not have free speech, and you will notice a number of them here who see themselves as liberals, and the good guys, also over look their very own brand of bullying to repress and silance others who do have free speech, to force their will upon them; bullying.

You're from South Africa. You should understand striving for improvement by confronting societal demons. You should also understand parts of the population striving to make others lives difficult in some way or the other. Hell, Gandhi found his life's mission after getting kicked out of a first class train car in South Africa.

It's a human thing. Conflict has been happening since the beginning of time.

*sniff sniff* I'm catching a whiff of troll.

I don't think it's strictly an American trait.

I do think that we should be more respectful of everyone's belief systems.

Like someone said in another thread - you don't see people poking fun at other religions as much as Christianity.

I think we get the point that many people here are not Christians. Easter is a holiday that many people do celebrate whether it be the Christian - or the more pagan oriented, or simply the Americanized hybrid with the Easter Bunny. Some humor is warranted. Some of the jokes, I did find a bit offensive. That's why I am just ignoring those threads.

I am not sure what this thread has to do with bullying, though.

    Those are just my thoughts.

I wouldn't compare yourself being offended by a thread on religion to a child being personally harrassed.

An harrassed teen is in a situation they can't escape, they have to live with it daily, all you need to do is click away from the thread.
