So I'm in the middle of concluding a deal for a new 2012 Hyundai Veloster.
Choice can be a little difficult as to colors. I had planned to get a black one...
but my last 2 Ranger 4x4's have been black, my 2006 Saturn Ion was black and my current car, my Astra that is about to be traded is black. Maybe I should consider something a little different. The gray isn't bad. Red, maybe... white, not sure and yellow? Not sure what I would think of my driving a yellow car. The candy apple green is out and silver is way too boring.

Ideas on colors you think are hot or you just like......and those you don't?
    Just curious.

Like most people I have my own personal color favorites, and my prefs are really irrelevant to yours, since it's YOUR car. Plus there can also be practical considerations, depending on where you're living, of factors like good visibility to other drivers, reflection of hot sun rays (a biggie here in Florida), and even whether certain colors make you a traffic cop magnet.

Another thing some of us considered about 50 years ago was fading, red being the worst, especially with VW Beetles. I had a red one turn orange practically in front of my eyes, despite regular washing & waxing, and being parked inside a garage.

But another thing I do is study the car manufacturer's sales brochures and online sites. Many cars just look better in certain colors, that can flatter the bodywork in ways that other colors don't. Naturally the makers appreciate this, and will favor sales brochure colors that portray their product in the most attractive ways.

So that's another clue for me. In fact, the color of our present car was largely chosen because that's the color of its brochure cover pic.

White... It's the safest colour car to drive, and nothing says 'cool' more than a guy who respects road safety.

Black is the least safe colour, followed by silver and grey.

My car is a metallic orange - not the bright one, but the darker one. I like it.

I'd go with the most preferred of the less-dirty-looking colors. Save yourself the trouble of having to clean it everytime it gets a bit dusty. Black's the worst for that.

    My car is brown.
It used to be white, but now it's in the dust bowl of AZ and I got tired of going through the car wash every other day to keep it clean. icon_lol.gif

Too much of an individual opinion to be relevant. Before I got a recent car I planned on a specific color. Then just before purchasing I changed my mind. Now whenever I see that color I wonder how I could ever have wanted that.

Whether talking cars or dogs, black is too hard to maintain, as is white. Silver probably shows the least dirt, though with vehicles my tastes these days run to the dark leaded grays:

If I did a second vehicle for fun I might go with the metallic orange you saw on last year's jeeps, though I'm also partial to the more subdued yet interesting color palates the BMW Minis are trotting out.

My current and previous cars have all been white on black. And will be for my future cars as well. I just think it makes a car both sporty and classy at the same time. Also, it's more visible to other cars on the road. So there's a bit of a safety factor there.

I like red cars. But you really have to maintain the finish. You can't get lazy about waxing/polishing. Otherwise, it gets dull over time. I'd say red cars are more maintenance than black cars.

    Here ya go..

The US is so boring concerning car colors. 95% of cars are either black, white, grey, beige or silver. Cars are so much more colorful in Europe. sigh.
