I laugh every time I get on the forums because those text window advertisements inserted into forum threads just seem absolutely ridiculous.

My favorite is: "Gay Lawyer in Austin, TX. GLBT? Need Legal Help [sic]? Consult a lawyer that understands [website redacted]"

I can understand wanting a gay primary care physician - that would be effective advertising due to all those issues that you might not feel comfortable discussing with a judgmental straighty pillar of the community church deacon when he is not wearing his doctor hat.

I could potentially understand wanting a gay personal trainer at the gym, so you could honestly show a photo of the ideal body type, and say "that's hot" instead of sheepishly and vaguely saying you want to lose weight/gain muscle.

But law? There is no cause of action, even employment discrimination, that I think that this matters. That seems the same to me as walking into a bank and demanding that I be pointed in the direction of the one gay teller. Or asking for the one gay pizza delivery boy to deliver my pizza. But apparently that lawyer thought it was worth spending money on for the advertisement.

Do others, especially the older Stonewall-era members, feel the same way? Even in estate planning, social security disability, consumer bankruptcy even if you are living with a closeted same-sex partner ... I don't see the difference mattering.

Oh yeah, and having a gay lawyer is a good thing...especially if he thinks you're hot and handles your case (and body) for free. icon_biggrin.gif

Oh. Safari doesn't do any of that adblocking stuff like Firefox, does it? That's why I get to see these advertisements icon_sad.gif
