Just a general thread about religion and all of their historical and colorful murders. Post only truthful information about the crimes religion has done. It can be about any religion, not just Christianity even tho it seems like it has caused the most problems.

For example the on going battle to make the public seem that homosexuals aren't people, but creatures that don't deserve any human rights, including the right to life.

This thread is blasphemy! Threads don't start out as a flame war from the original post. They either quickly evolve into one or wait until after two or three pages.

I just have it here so that people can stop posting it on other topics, this way they can simply provide a link to a source that shows the suffering of religion.

I'd say, since today was Easter that that a lot of people suffered under religious violent imagery while looking up at a man hanging on the cross with blood streaming down from his hands, his forehead, his side and from his feet. Then the christian congregations all over the US took part in "drinking his blood" and "eating his flesh" (symbolically but how damn morbid)

No damn wonder Christians are so war like, read the bible and the depictions of violence haven't even been upended by Hollywood. Read all about their loving God's eternal hell fire and brimstone. Those who talk about other religions and their cruelty are ignoring their own little black book.

I have found here at RJ who hate religion, over look their own hate and hatful acts too, thus this makes them no better; religion is not the root of all evil.

The OP probably shouldn't have worded it 'hate' religion, but it works since religions of the world always seem to be at the root of conflicts, same with families religion is right at the top of the list of familial conflicts.

All because religions have the built in requirement that: 'you must believe as I do or you are on the wrong side and going to hell', 'if you don't believe as I do, you are dangerous and must change or conform to be accepted by me and my religious group'. For all holding those beliefs, there is deminishing of peace between the parties involved, whether its between nations, between families or between two people. but subtract the above belief systems that come with religions and there are far less chances for disagreements, dessension and misunderstandings.

You can keep your religion and I'll keep my peace without it.

I hate religion because it is by definition the height of arrogance. It convinces good people that they know what they cannot possibly know. And while this hubris is harmless in most people, a spoiled few have caused great harm throughout the centuries.

Uncertainty. Skepticism. Doubt. Questioning. Anti-authoritarianism. Fallibility. Reason & logic. Humility. These are my "religion."

Why is satanism better than Christianity?

Because satanism accepts everyone for who they are.

I was intrigued by the OP's description of the thread and was hoping to get some links to read. I am religious, well believe in God but am right now doubtful about organized religions but that's still something for me to think over. So I was hoping that this thread would have provided some insight on one side of the spectrum. Guess it just went all over the place... someone post a link please!
