What is knowledge or IQ?

I'm really bored and decided to make a post about something I've been thinking about all day. Please don't take it too seriously like in my other posts.

So I've never been that great of a student until college and I've always liked doing things on my own instead of following directions. During those years I always felt kind of dumb and intellectually inferior to other kids o_o

In the last few years, I've been questioning what knowledge is and what is considered to be valuable by society. To me it seems like our society gives a high value to those who are "educated" and have a lot of knowledge on everything like those people on jeopardy. It also seems like mastering grammar (something I never understood lol) is also a respectable attribute of someone. Communication is important, but is correct grammar (minor rules like the past tenses of the words "lie" and "lay") THAT important?

What makes Harvard a prestigious school? What is high status anyway? Something is only high status because society makes it that way. I'm starting to think GPA and the college you go to is only a measure of your conformity to society, not necessarily something of value in itself, but only valuable in the society that you're in. But why should you conform to society? Aren't we free to do what we want? In an alternate reality, people might have a different criteria of what they consider to be intellectually valuable, which is why our knowledge is probably a little overrated.

Society's academic norms may be necessary for there to be effective communication and technological advancement. But are our technological accomplishments really worth anything? Are we really any better off than cavemen? People are stressed out and depressed more than ever before in history. I love computers, but I've had so much computer and display in my life that it actually depresses and stresses me out because I'm not really enjoying real life.

Anyways, I need help in developing these thoughts so I would appreciate some "constructive" thoughts on this and no destructive ones please. I'm sorry if whatever I wrote above is totally wrong and doesn't make logical sense, that's why I'm asking for your input on this...

Having worked in engineering for a few years (before becoming a pilot) I saw firsthand that IQ is inversely proportional to common sense.
