I've often found throughout the years that the most creative/progressive music videos also tend to be the ones that encounter the most censorship.

Videos by likes of Chris Cunningham and Jonas Akerlund tend to be guilty of pushing the boundaries of what's acceptable in a short form video.

So with that in mind what is your favorite banned/censored music video and why ?

I gotta pick Aphex Twin's Come To Daddy - it really scared the shit out of me when I first saw it and I haven't seen a video like it since. Perfect visual accompaniment to the deranged music !

I put this in another thread last night, but it fits here. It is age restricted on YouTube and I doubt this is going to make it to MTV with its sexuality and violence and a transgendered father. The new video from Spiritualized-

This has to be the most violent/sadistic music video ever made. I've never seen anything to top this.

It's the climax of a short film Nine Inch Nails made for their Broken EP in the early 90's. Trent Reznor/Interscope actually stopped this video from being commercially released because they felt it was TOO hardcore.

Don't watch it unless you can tolerate a lot of violence. Naturally it is age restricted.

Iceblink- thanks for posting that video, it's amazing !

I don't even see the point of that NIN video. It just felt like violence for its own sake. Although I wonder how many of these torture porn directors of today saw that video in their teen years and thought "I wanna make movies like that one day."

That is a Chris Cunningham video, one of the most groundbreaking video directors of all time. He has many innovative videos and is often more well known than the musical artists he works with. He is another one of the videos he made for Aphex Twins

Prodigy - Smack My Bitch Up.

It's a great video from a great group. I found it more realistic and funny then offensive.

    Madonna - Justify My Love.

I stayed up late to watch it on ABC News with Peter Jennings since that was the only time they would show it. It's extremely tame in comparison to today's shockers but 21 years ago it was all the rave.

Apex Twins - Come To Daddy

It scared and excited me at the same time when I first saw it as a kid.

Sad that this cannot be shown on American commercial TV as there is nothing particularly sexual about this video. Why is there such fear of the human body?

Frankie's Relax Video or Rammstein's Pussy Video

    I love em both.

Frankie Goes To Hollywood - Relax
S&M, Glorious Drag Queens, and a baby tiger!

    Rammstein - Pussy
Beware, naked ladies and mens and cock and sex and cumshots in this video. Seriously, Rated X stuff here >.>

Its the only one I know of off the top of my head.

Was banned because of Taco's last-minute addition of the "blackfaces". The song was originally written, if i recall correctly, with a part that poked fun at poor African Americans (in 1929) who dressed up and walked up and down Lenox Avenue in NYC.

These two are officially on MTV's banned or restricted list. I don't know if the second one really should be.

Banned from MTV due to sexual/gender ambiguity... seemed stupid to me, even then, that this was "controversial" in any substantive way
