Wow. Not a fan of Lamebook or Instagram, but that's quite a deal that just happened. Wonder how Mark is going to make people hate Instagram like they now hate facebook lol.

Morale of the story kids. If your competition is getting too strong, buy them out.

Now all your Facebook photos will be grainy and sepia-toned. Hooray!

(Actually, I really like Instagram... but the photos look so much better on a smartphone than on a PC monitor)

I can see why they bought it - Instragram is basically Facebook for photos. I don't even get the need most people would have for instagram- my phone's camera program has more editing/tinting/color/options for photos than Instagram does. Don't most iPhones have the same capabilities?

My favorite comment was: "Facebook is stupid--they paid $1B for Instagram and they could've downloaded it for free!"

I don't actually hate instagram in and of itself. It's the Farmville effect. You're force-fed everyone's obsession with it on your newsfeed until you're sick of it even if you've never used it.

The iPhone's native camera app doesn't have filters like Instagram's. Instagram's filters give photos a vintage look... which is why it's so popular with hipsters.

Instagram is actually more like Twitter than like Facebook... one of its most commonly used features is hashtags.

This is why I live the way I do. I ignore almost every single hot product when it's at it's peak, then I enjoy what I like about it later, after the effects of HYPE! Have worn off... it took me 10 years, and my own break down, to accept Britney after she came out with, "Oops..". I couldn't stand teenie pop overload insanity. She's just a bitch as far as I'm concerned. Not the Dominatrix in control like Madonna still IS.

And let's all now watch as this thread is suddenly and immediately derailed into a Britney vs. Madonna battle royale!

    aaaaaaaaaaaaaand GO!

Silly, not everyone reads. It's imagery that drives the mind.

So that explains why Instagram finally released an Android version of the app. My guess is that FB added that as a requirement somewhere in the acquisition.

And I think the best photo filter app is Pixlr-O-Matic. Blows away Instagram in terms of features. icon_cool.gif

Interesting. My HTC phone has more photo options than Instagram. I counted to be sure. So I felt, I can just manipulate the photos before uploading them to Facebook. I see too where Instagram is more like Twitter/Tumblr than Facebook. I downloaded Instagram and quickly realized that I didn't even have use for it. it brought nothing new to my phone.
