"Aside from having protein and vitamin B12, animal protein has very little to offer nutritionally- being devoid of fiber and low in vitamins and minerals. "

The human digestive system Is not designed to digest grains at all since grains are hellbent to protect their seeds from being eaten by mammals.

If meat really became toxic sludge that stays in your body, then eventually as people become older, their abdomens would swell and explode.

Furthermore, digestion does not occur in the colon.

When food/feces stays in the colon or any other part of the digestive tract, people have pain and they know.

Additionally, no studies have concluded that healthy vegetarians live longer than healthy carnivores.

The body does need things other than fiber, vitamins, and minerals from meat like proteins and fat which give you calories and make hormones that keep you alive.

Also, we have discussed something similar in great detail with much derision towards each other with a healthy dose of false informatino, here:

But were we designed, or did we evolve? Scientists would say the latter.

I don't think everyone should be on a 100 percent plant based diet, but people could definitely cut down on meat and whey protein consumption.

MOTD- pretty sure what she's saying is that what nutrients/protein is in the meat isnt necessarily all assimilated. Is that nutrition profile from whole foods? Organic meat I'm sure has a higher profile than most peoples factory farmed shit.

Alpha- You can sprout grains, it makes them super digestible. Some can definitely handle grains better than others. Same goes for meat.

Commoncol- people get passionate, totally forgot about that old post. I'm pretty sure The China Study had something about chimps on different diets and their longevity.... I don't think anyone should try to live longer, it's about quality not quantity. Rarely do I contribute to forum posts but I like it when everyone's less cunty and more intelligent (with a bit of cheek lol)

This is true. Moderation in food choices is a necessity. There is a Persian proverb that says "A man who eats only snakes becomes a viper"

In that case, I need to hurry up and start eating snakes.

I think thats the important message. All things being equal, I think moderation is the key to better health.

Except that most of the grains in the human diet are first prepared using our technology to make them digestible by us.

Are these the same scientists that "discovered" that eating fat makes you obese and eating salt gives you high blood pressure and human milk is nutitionally deficient? That which makes sense to the scientist is not necessarily true. Dissect a few hundred animals and you Will definitely see that they are constructed according to a plan. Just because you can't understand how that can happen does not make it less true.

I mean, I'm 100 % with you on the 'eat-less-meat' idea, but it's misinformed pseudosciency stuff like this that in reality just gives skeptics more ammunition to justify eating their kilo of meat everyday. It's for sure healthier to eat less red meat, but her reasoning is pretty contorted. Generally, I'd say you can't really trust any article that includes vague references to things like 'toxic sludge' without any further elaboration. And the part about denatured proteins being worse.... wow, she really doesn't understand digestion...

I would suggest you read The Paleo Solutuion by Rob Wolf. But he says repeated in the book that there is no science in reading. Experiment on yourself for one month and discover your truth.

As a kid, my family's diet consisted of a big slab of meat, potatoes, and some kind of vegetable.

One grandmother lived to be 96
Other grandmother lived to be 88
One grandfather (chain smoker) lived to be 81
Other grandfather lived to be 94
My mother (smoked for about 40 years) lived to be 82
My father (smoked for about 50 years) lived to be 78
