Arizona legislators just passed a bill which states that life begins up to two weeks PRIOR to conception. Not conception. Two weeks BEFORE conception.

Is this supposed to be an example of laser-like focus on job creation that Republicans promised?

The entire scene, before the sacred sperm song, is also funny. Especially when the out-of-work Father tells his scores of children, the result of Catholic Church prohibitions against contraception:

"I've got no option but to sell you all for scientific experiments."

Apparently in the US, too, sperm may be sacred, but not the resultant children. As evidenced by Republican slashing of education budgets, raising of tuitions, and leaders like Santorum mocking the idea that young people are entitled to a chance at a college education. All the while restricting access to contraception, abortion, and family planning services. "Spare the sperm, crush the child" is another motto of the US Right Wing.

I'm not all that proud of living in the state of Louisiana (although I could never live anywhere else except here in New Orleans!); but next to the madness goin' on in Arizona.....suddenly this state is looking all the more better
