I have never been to a restaurant that doesn't disclose prices for its items. And I would get up and leave immediately if that was the case.

Also, I tend to check Yelp before I try new places, especially in a city I'm not familiar with.

Wow! 6 people, that would be $7,870.18 per person

Why would you order food without knowing the price first?

    Is that an American thing?

More fool the writer for not checking the prices first.

    Loz

ps. You are allowed to query a bill if you think you're being over-charged.

Laurence saidps. You are allowed to query a bill if you think you're being over-charged.
And you're also allowed to walk out without paying. The most they can do is call the cops; and good luck with finding a cop who'll actually chase someone down over a dinner ticket. They'll just file a report in folder #13.

There's this place here...Roka Akor, that doesn't list any of their prices on the menu...I mean you can Yelp! it and obviously it has a rating but it can definitely be a surprise when you get the bill.
