Hi All. So I've been hitting the gym pretty hard over the last six months and have noticed significant gains. YAY!!! The problem: My left pectoral muscle is becoming significantly larger than my right? Am I doing something wrong? Any suggestion as to how I can even them out...aside from breast implants?! Thanks!

    No one is perfectly symmetrical.

I'll willing to bet that you are the only one who notices this. Everyone else will think you are just fine.

Well that's encouraging. Maybe it is just in my head. I'm new to the lifting game so I'm never really sure what's normal and what's not.

Switch to masturbating with your right hand.

Competitive bodybuilders have to watch this problem, but for the rest of us just make sure your lifting is balanced on both sides. I agree that you are prob the only person who will notice.

Is it also stronger? Cause you could just keep up and work up the weight that it can handle. For some reason my left arm had been able to lift more than my right at some point so I just kept training them as if they only depended on what the right arm could do and it caught up.

Do you use dumbbells or barbells/pulley machines?
Apparently barbells and pulley machines enable one body side to compensate for the weakness of the other. Result: uneven progress in muscle growth.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I mostly use dumbbells and bench press. I'm not really a fan of the pully machines. I feel like I always compensate by using other parts of my buddy.

I also have the same problem. Switching to full bar bell exercises can help, but like some people mentioned, most people won't even notice. Your pecs seem pretty symmetrical to me in those pics. icon_smile.gif

I do a lot of coiling and uncoiling of heavy cables as part of my work (running geophysical surveys) and I noticed a few years ago that pecs on the left were obviously larger than on the right....I then switched which arm was doing what in the coiling process (pulling in cable versus holding the coil), and things evened out within a few months.

I guess my message to you is that you should be able to even things out by training the weak side harder than the other side. Might want to try this using one-arm pulls on one of the cable machines.

That is the stupidest thing I have ever seen posted in a thread.

    Have a little respect.

He should alternate masturbating with BOTH hands in order to achieve balance.

    And supply pics.

    JEEZE - so rude.

I noticed it in one pic, probably because you pointed it out but you look amazing man. It doesn't look 'significantly' larger to me at all.

it will also most likely balance out over time.

I have found certain muscles grow more rapidly than others - for whatever reasons - but after a while they all begin to look more balanced.

Alternating routines, exercises, movements and amount of weight seems to help. A LOT!!!

And I agree - The OP looks great so not worth going crazy over a pursuit of perfection...which is USELESS!!!!
