Yesterday I discovered Rogers had sent my account to collections...I got confused till no end since my balance is actually $-24 with Rogers right now and I have cable, home phone, cellphone and internet for which I pay around $300 a month.

So I called the agency, they gave me the account number and I called Rogers. Supposedly last year when I asked them to merge my cellphone with the rest of my services to have it all under one account they left my cellphone account opened with a balance of $270. That balance was never transfered with the merging and it was just sitting there on a dead account. Rogers never called me, they sent letters to a previous address they say. One year later and now my credit obviously went down by a lot as a result of Rogers submitting my file to a collection agency which reported it to the credit bureau.

I called them 100 times and I have been transfered from person to person like a million times. Im telling them I dont understand how a simple merge within the same company created a dead account I was never told about and I was never contacted about when not even my cellphone number changed, it simply got transfered. They say their system does not call that number anymore and since the address changed thats pretty much all the effort they put into getting a hold on me while in the mean time I keep paying my insane bills on my regular account with them trying to keep it all up to date.

My iPhone died at some point while I was yelling at someone, so I have to call back again. Basically they want me to just pay the balance but still my credit already got affected and that wont change. So I either want:

1 - Credit back the balance and report it payed to the collection agency.
2 - I pay $270 and Rogers has to figure out how to correct my credit score.

Im so fucked. Cant believe Rogers just did that. After all the shit load of money I pay to this company every single month.

That sucks since its not your fault and your FICO score is the key to basically everything money related.

This doesn't go on your credit report. Rogers is notorious for horrible customer service.

The company can correct the information at the credit bureaus but you'll have to fight with them to do it. keep going up the chain until you can get a resolution. Just paying the bill will not automatically remove it from your credit history. Threaten to sue if they don't listen. This was totally their fault.

That's really low and bad service. Would it be possible for you to head to HQ and personally talk to a head of customer service?

I recently prevented my credit score from becoming fucked over because somehow my old credit card was still in the system at TD even though it was expired and I never renewed it. When I made a payment on my new card, somehow it landed up on my old one as a balance. Lucky enough a TD specialist rectified the mistake.

On a side note, his voice made sound like he was indeed a handsome fella! icon_lol.gif

Contact the local television stations who do those "We're in your corner" pieces. I think every local news has one now. They'll get a correction done alot quicker than you ever will when it's aired on the nightly news. Love watching those pieces.

Dude, you live in the gay porn capital of Florida. You can watch it live as it's being filmed if you know the right people. icon_cool.gif

Rogers is in the news, again, for a $1400 texting bill. Mind you, this isn't as scandalous as the $28,000 phone bill one girl got for taking her phone to Europe:

My rommate gets 400$ bills EVERY month from Rogers and she has to call every month so they lower it to like 60$. Worst company ever.

I suggest switching with Telus. Yout pay more but the service you get is definitely better.

and phone companies dont wont afffect your credit if you want a mortgage or something like that. The only send the info if they hire a recollection agent. So basically what I did when I was with Bell and something similar happened to me I dropped my account to around 99,99$ and they only send a recollection agent for 100$ + so I never heard of them after

Honestly,Im pretty sure they dont care for phone bills when you want a mortgage because there are too many fuck-ups with telecomm companies in canada. So no stress!

Have you checked your credit score lately?

Because it went to collections, it might ding your credit briefly (maybe a point or two).

You need to get this taken off.

Also, are you in America? I had a similar problem with AT&T. They didn't seem to want to resolve it, so I went to the Better Business Bureau website and filed a complaint. It was resolved to my satisfaction within 24 hours and I got 3 calls apologizing. That may be your best course of action at this point.

Once it's wiped off your credit report - it may take a few months for the ding to go away, but could possibly get a letter from the phone company which you could present to any bank or lender if you are applying for credit.

I once threatened my French phone bill company when they made a mistake, I think I just put like a letterhead to a law office run by a family member and threatened with action if not complied to.. that scared them enough.... I got the money back pretty quick.
