When David Brock applied for tax-exempt status for Media Matters for America, he told the IRS exactly who his group would be fighting against: businesses, wealthy Americans and conservative Christians.

“Media Matters for America (MMA) believes that news reporting and analysis by the American media, with its eye on profit margin and preservation of the status quo, has become biased,” read the group’s application, obtained by The Daily Caller, “It is common for news and commentary by the press to present viewpoints that tend to overly promote corporate interests, the rights of the wealthy, and a conservative, Christian-influenced ideology.”

Treasury Department documents — 88 pages that The Daily Caller obtained through a public records request to the IRS — reveal for the first time how the organization described its mission while applying for coveted 501(c)(3) non-profit status.

Media Matters has made no secret of its adherence to progressive principles, but flagging Christianity as having undue influence in media is the latest revelation about the group’s treatment of religion.

In short then, Media Matters takes on all who by their actions cut into the quality and equality of average middle Americans daily lives. All who improve the quality and equality of average middle Americans daily lives will not be troubled, but may receive praise. That's a pretty good goal !!

Except as per usual, when it comes to liberal ideals, the opposite generally happens when they succeed in making policy/regulatory changes - e.g. rent control resulting in higher overall cost of rent and lower supply, dependency in entitlements, minimum wage resulting in higher unemployment, etc.

And do you really think that there is a tendency in media to over promote a Christian ideology?

Well Riddler here in the US the Christian Fundi's are using the media to advertise a whole range of their bible based beliefs which are an infringement on personal rights. Those are mostly involving gay rights and womens rights, Media Matters does a great job at exposing their tactics and the hypocrisy of their actions.

Media Matters is priceless when it comes to the value of their exposing the above and how those Fundi efforts are harming Americans rights. They also do great at exposing the Fundi money backers, who are actually using the Fundi's as "usefull idiots" to forward their own agenda's. A good example would be the Koch Bro's who are major funders of far right groups. The more Media Matters exposes these groups the better off we are here in the States.
