OK kind of new to the whole working out thing, but could do with some advice.

Whenever I do certain exercises, particularly using the shoulder press or any accociated machine/exercise my shoulder joints click on every lift, is this normal and am I doing any damage?

If you Google "shoulder joints clicking, popping" you'll get some opinions from physical therapists on this issue.

The consensus seems to be that while there is no certainty that damage is being done during movements that give you the 'clicking'.....you'd be wise to replace the exercises with ones that don't cause the clicks.

Try a few weeks of 'stretch band exercises' to strengthen the muscles around your shoulder joints.

I hope other guys will give you specific exercises to try. If nothing else, research 'shoulder joint therapy with stretch bands' to find some exercises.

When I stopped using straight bars and stationary machine bars, for flat and overhead presses, my shoulders experienced less pain and problems. Have since used only dumbbells for over a decade. Also, with dumbbells you will get more even development between the right and left sides.

Id agree with Nivek. I have the same issue what seemed to help was taking Omega 3, plus my trainer has me doing low weight dumbell exercises for shoulders, its a bit of a pain but seems to have done the trick.

Id be interested to see what more experienced guys have to say
