Well, Cameron is certainly going some way to redeeming the years of anti-gay legislation and attitudes we have had from the Conservative Party.

Very true. I remember the days of Section 28, etc. under Thatcher.

It`s interesting that he makes the social argument for marriage in the film, and therefore gay marriage, rather than an individualistic one; the more usual ideology of the conservatives.

But I wonder how far he reflects the views of his party? I remember seeing his first party conference as leader and he spoke of how proud he was to have supported the government`s new laws on civil partnerships. A large section of the audience were less than enthusiastic about it, shall we say? Marriage is a whole new step forward and exactly what so many of them feared. My thought is that the grass roots and activists out in the country are opposed to this proposal. I maybe wrong, but I think he has quite a fight on his hands.

Ironically, his great allies, politically, in this will be the Liberal Democrats and New Labour as there is much more support for 'gay marriage' in their parties!

I can't help but be cynical about this. While it's progressive for a Tory I don't doubt for a second that it's just an attempt to further his own agenda to improve his public image here.

Not even the left wing political party in Australia support the concept of "Gay Marriage, as they know the majority of the people of Oz do not support the concept, yet are not as a whole anti gay unions.

For me the whole issue makes no diffrence to my life whatsoever; life still goes on.

But this is also a waste of time in the UK as homosexuals of the UK will not get more rights; thus what is the point?

Seems some are more hooked on getting the Term Gay Marriage passed than they are the issue of equality; since the homosexuals of the UK already have it, and gay marriage is not just marriageicon_wink.gif
