Congratulations to Goyte ( and Kimbra) for the Billboard No.1 'Somebody that I used to know".

First Australian artist/group to top the US charts since Savage Garden

Kimbra, from Aotearoa / New Zealand is one to watch too.

    Both great clips!

    Neither were born in Australia.

But I guess we have to take them. Very few Australian music acts crack the US market.

GOTYE. If you're going to make a thread, get it right icon_smile.gif

But I agree.. Gotye and Kimbra are two great acts from Australia and NZ that I'm glad I found out about in the past couple months and couldn't do without.

I thought I was so ahead of the curve liking this song, and then BAM! all over the radio.

I think the recent Glee episode with Matt Bomer (who performed this song with his "brother", a full-time cast member) may have contributed to that....

What an atrocious cover that was.

I can't stand all of the remixed versions that they play on the radio...

I've noticed this trend lately, where a song that is sort of intended to be moody, or more ballad-esque is turned into a dubstep-trainwreck...

Let the song be what it is...I don't want to hear you turn 'Somebody That I Used To Know' or 'Someone Like You' into a dance song.

Goyte moved to Australia when he was two years old and is an Australian citizen.

If you extend this logic to the wider Australian community, at least 24% of the population are not citizens.

    It's Gotye!

Goyte sounds like something that grows on the bottom of your foot.

It's a great song. It's definitely been one of the big surprises I've heard lately amongst all the trashy club/dance songs that flood the airwaves.

Plus I was ready for a little break from Adele, lol
