Because a certain leftist insists on keeping this story alive (jealousy perhaps?), here's a new thread - given Limbaugh looks like he will emerge stronger.

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/03/30/rush-limbaugh-sandra-fluke-ratings-advertisers_n_1390947.html

Rush Limbaugh claimed on Thursday that his ratings have skyrocketed since the firestorm over his attacks on Sandra Fluke.

After calling Georgetown law student Fluke a "slut" and a "prostitute," Limbaugh became the target of national outrage and an advertiser boycott. President Obama even weighed in on the controversy.

As March dragged on, though, the story receded into the background. A Washington Post article on Wednesday was widely cited as evidence that the controversy has died down.

On Thursday, Limbaugh felt that it was time to take a victory lap.

"The advertisers who hung in here are going gangbusters, yes," he said. "I mean, that’s the simple truth. The only ones who got hurt are the ones who left."

Speaking about his ratings, he said, "The simple answer is that on the range of all 600 radio stations, our ratings are up anywhere from 10% to 60%, depending on the station.”

"Rush Limbaugh claimed on Thursday that his ratings have skyrocketed"

and this claim will be considered Absolute Truth by the highly gullible, angry old guys who listen to him.

No matter the evidence to the contrary, they have the ability to Believe Rush's BS.

Rush is being replaced on many of his former stations with Mike Huckabee, his conservative brother. who is stabbing Rush in the back----with a smile.

Scandal provided a temporary boost in Fatso's ratings?

That's so weird and unprecedented. icon_rolleyes.gif

Do you understand this concept that advertisers go to where the audience is? Oh right, you don't actually work in the private sector - you feed off the benevolence of others instead of actually creating value.

Rush has a history of wildly inflating his ratings -- he's been caught lying about this in the past.

Yes. And they've all left Rush...

Riddler, you really shouldn't try to condescend to your moral and intellectual superiors. It just reads as desperate.

And remember, Glenn Beck had good ratings on Fox. But enough advertisers left that he was costing them money and now he's gone.

Sure, Rush is a much, much bigger target but Corporations also value their image and brand because that's key to their ability to sell their products.

First, we have the stampede away from Rush and, now, we have 10 major companies pulling out of ALEC.

The sooner you face that facts the the right-wing has overreached and they're suffering the blow-back of it now the better you'll sleep at night, my little socialist.

Rush is doing anything and everything including lieing out of desparation to save his program in spite of some 60 or so advertizers leaving his show, last I read only 7 new ones came online for him.

I wouldn't believe much of anything this big mouthed bigot has to say. Have any of you listened to this guy lately ? How do people stand listening to him for 2 or 3 hours a day?

Amusingly and undoubtedly disappointingly for you, Glenn Beck is laughing all the way to the bank - but that's just another example of how out of touch and ignorant of what goes on around you though I understand how you might have difficulty understanding the math -

The transformation is also evident in the economics of the business. On Fox News, Mr. Beck averaged 2.2 million daily viewers and was paid $2.5 million a year. GBTV, which jumped on the scene in September, is expected to bring in at least $40 million in revenue this year, supported by advertising and more than 300,000 subscribers paying as much as $9.95 a month for full access to GBTV, according to a person close to the company. While it is significantly smaller than his audience at Fox News, it's still more than an established network like CNBC, which drew an average of 189,000 viewers over the course of the total day in February, according to Nielsen.

You do realize that nothing you wrote about Glenn Beck in any way contradicted what I had written about him or Rush?

Also, I'll give you a hint "expected" is not the same as "will" or "did".

Similar to Rush's crowing, guess who told WSJ what Beck is "expected" bring in this year? Beck!

Rush does more harm to the concepts of classical liberalism, entrepreneurship, free markets and capitalism. He fuses them to his wide array of bigoted beliefs. This is why the rednecks, hicks and fellow bigots love him.

Personally, I can't stand his show for any longer than three minutes...it commercials, more commercials and then even more commercials.

I mean except for the fact it contradicts what you said about Glenn Beck you might have a point. And as for Beck - you missed the part where he does have external investors and it's a pretty good bet that at least some of the numbers were corroborated - I mean it's the WSJ not like the NYT on financial issues.

But so let's review, in summary, both Glenn Beck and Rush seem to be getting more successful after being attacks initiated by Media Matters. icon_rolleyes.gif Why do you hate success?

I was happy to hear that he lost a bunch of sponsors for exactly that reason.

You ought to try to listen to any of them on XM radio. Talk about commercials.... but absolute scam/spam bullshit similar to what one would read in their email junk folder. Five minutes of program and then five minutes of bullshit, and not just on my favorite icon_wink.gif right-wing channels, but MSNBC and CNN too. All of them.

I thought this would make Rush listenable. I like to listen to him on occasion, but in pursuit of the almighty buck, he’s unlistenable.

Obviously, Rush is doing something right if size of audience is the barometer. I find him annoying and unlistenable, but some 15 million daily listeners don't. His show has been the #1 radio show for over 20 years, and I doubt anything short of him dropping dead of a massive coronary will change that.

    Such emotion today!

As an alternative, there's Gary Bauer (yes that one) on the Bauer and Rose show every weekday evening on XM's Patriot Radio.
