So I read all about everyones pet peeves and dislikes in that other thread.

Have you ever witnessed any NICE stuff at the gym? That 70 year old granny that shows up for her jazzercize class every week? (Go girl!)

A cute lil couple that met cuz someone needed a spot one day?

A Trainer that stopped to pause for a moment and show that little guy how he could improve his form?

For me... there have been two things.

First is a super sweet guy (not to mention smokin hot) that I see at the gym regularly. He stopped me one day and complimented me on the hard work. Said he'd watched me a few times and had watched me raise my weights, and had seen me walk out drenched in sweat and just wanted to offer his encouragement. WOW! Talk about fuel for the motivational fires!

The second is a trainer. I dont even know his name, but a lot of the trainers at my gym just seem... unwelcoming. But there's this one trainer... every once in a while he'll catch my eye and offer a smile and a nod or a thumbs up.

Sometimes, for me... its just a little thing like a smile that can make all the difference in a day, or in a workout.

What about you?

I work out in my condo gym nearly every morning. There is one man there that looks like he is in his 70's. He is very skinny and incredibly fit. He is at the gym every day without exception. Incredible dedication and self-discipline. He is also polite and considerate to other users.

The client whose appointment is right after mine is a 63 year old lady - who can hold a front plank longer than anyone I've ever seen. She's downright inspiring!

For me recently it was Gay Pride up in Santa Barbara. There was a very old lady in the park where pride was held and music was blasting. Confined as she was to a wheelchair, she still was having fun, tapping, moving and shuffling her feet to the music!

There is a ginger at my gym and she is there everyday. She has dropped a lot of weight over the past year. I've made sure to compliment her on her commitment.

And also a trainer at the gym, who always has a smile and helpful hints. Awesome guy.

Since my gym is a health care associated facility I see people in their every day going to their respective rehab rooms. You see these little old ladies in their 70's and 80's that have had a stroke and their in their busting their ass just to walk. If she can do it, I don't want to listen to excuses why anyone else can't. Aside from the seeing the constant stream of people in their that have heart disease, cardiovascular disease, respiratory disease, and their fighting for their lives after spending a life time neglecting their bodies, poisoning themselves, eating the old ways etc, each of them motivate me to never, never end up in that spot. The work you do today might be the only thing that saves your life one day.
