Your profile says you live in San Francisco. Gay PDAs are common there. Same thing here in Wilton Manors, and much of Fort Lauderdale.
My husband & I hold hands in public, and exchange light kisses. And of course everyone around here hugs, straight or gay, man or woman. At times it seems the formal handshake between men has almost disappeared in Wilton Manors.
But as for "making out" that's not done around here. I think most of us apply the same rule to gays as for straights, and some passionate expressions are not suitable in public. But as the same rules apply, so should the same rights.
And so therefore I expect to be able to do the same things in public with my husband as straight couples do. Yet you still hear the case where US police will break up a kissing gay couple or even detain them, claiming they're violating the law, when in fact they're not. Old discrimination dies hard.
