I'm not even sure if I will get it. Diablo 1 was good, diablo 2 wasn't. The story sucked and wasn't even creepy or Satanic anymore. It was grindy.

Diablo 3 looks like the same game as diablo 2 as far as I've seen from YouTube videos. Seems like an old, trite/banal/hackneyed/cliche (wow i'm a thesaurus), genre in 2012. It was good in 1995 or whenever it was out originally and VERY good then.

Guild wars 2 beta is next week for those of us that prepurchased. Finally, an MMO that isn't the same old thing rehashed with different graphics.

Wow, you beat a game in beta already that has been in development for almost 5-6 years and they just now decide to release it when other companies may take some revenue away from Blizzard. Like I said, not gonna support it because I think it's unfriendly business and nothing new and different.

You'd think they'd make it have some sort of replayability factor after 6 years in development...

Apparently the beta is only the first couple hours of the game, if that, and it's only being used to test strain on Battle.net.

With that said, I don't get the Diablo series.

Gameplay is still solid and addictive. There's something about assigning the skills that just doesn't work though. They are automatically assigned and you have little say to change anything. Also, it looks a little too cartoonish for my liking. There's still SOME of that creepy satan atmosphere, but it's lacking quite a bit. Overall it was just ok. I'm still undecided wether i'm going to buy it. I'm gonna try the Guild Wars 2 open beta first next week and then probably just buy either that one or D3.

There's a lot of "casual" stuff auto-turned on. If you go into the options you can turn a bunch of off so you have more control.

Ummm...wut? GW2 looks amazing, but let's be honest....it looks like a mix of GW1 and WoW with nice artwork.

Apparently the art department took a long time developing the look of the game. They wanted to keep the satanic atmosphere, but wanted to make sure everything didn't blend together like the previous 2. They tried making the creatures actually stand out.

Can you explain what is unfriendly business? I'm interested, I just didn't get what you meant.

You should try the beta, so you can see if your opinions are right without having to actually pay the company anything.

I played Diablo 2 last year. Man it was ooooold. I think there's always a market for hack & slash, as long as it's not EVERY game. Same with turn-based. It's good to have variety.

Nuh-uh. The Alpha is only the first act. The second act is the Closed Beta. Third is the Open Beta. Fourth is Release (because a game is never done on release). Fifth is a few months after release, when the patches make the game playable.

Although with this game being developed for 6 years, I would hope the bugs were squashed by release.

I never did finish Guild Wars. Played it with a friend, but when he died it just felt empty and sad going on without him. Now the game is nearly dead, and everyone is max level. icon_sad.gif

No open beta was the first act (skeleton king). Unless I'm missing your point icon_sad.gif

Ugh, you lucky bastards. I invested so many hours into Diablo II when I was a teenage..haha. Hoping that they'll port the 3rd one to consoles since my laptop lacks the graphical capability to run the game.
