I'll am travelling solo to LA this summer. Where can I find some cool, fun, young, hip places to shop for clothes? Also, where are some really good places to eat and it won't be awkward that I'm eating by myself?

Shopping you can't go wrong with American Rag Cie and Fred Segal. Robertson between Melrose and Beverly is pretty rad too. Eating alone in restaurants in West LA is kind of a weird thing to do, it always seems to have some stigma attached. You'd be better off doing that in Silverlake.

there's the grove in LA and the Americana in glendale. both are outdoor malls. and for food..there is a farmer's market next to the grove. also, look up food trucks. its the "hippiest" thing around here lately as far as food goes and who gives a shiit if you eat alone ;)

eating by yourself is only awkward if you let it, no matter where you are.
I was born and raised in Los Angeles and still there...
