happy Record Store Day! today we celebrate the art of music!
I just picked up the Red Hot Chili Peppers' Stadium Arcadium Deluxe Art Edition LP box set...analog recording on 180g discs and omg wow it's sex in my ears. It was specially priced for Record Store Day, since they just got inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
so go spend some money at your local record store! anybody here collect vinyl?

I still collect vinyl after all these years and I estimate my collection to be 5000+.

It's not that I'm such an audiophile that I find vinyl to be superior to digital cd, but I still have all of my records from when I first bought 'She Loves You" by the Beatles back when I was 5 and I see it as a collection...

Also, so much of what I buy is not out on cd, and I love to spend time searching through record stores. After awhile, you see the same faces there, and it almost is like a club. It's just not the same searching Amazon at home...

More power to the record stores.....like Record Surplus on Pico in LA.

Fuuuuck man...the only thing that gets me hotter than envelope-based, staff-assisted postal systems is a mom an pop hardware store...I swear every time I stumble across one I have to run inside and blow the 78-year old owner.

I don't want a whole record by anyone. Do they have any K-Tel records?

I love going through my parents' old vinyl records when I go home with the cover art and lyrics printed on the inside sleeve. There are a lot of records whose packaging was far superior to the music itself. You just don't get that with a download. Some things haven't been improved by technology. I think the art of the lp and the fact that music was an experience for at least a few of the senses (I think there were some scented lp covers) is something I wish I could experience today. So happy record store day OP. I wish there was one here.

There is, I think that app is what killed the record stores.

This thread is totally making me want to watch Empire Records with Liv Tyler icon_lol.gif

I find physical media really impractical tbh and I'm not enough of an audio nerd to hear the difference with analogue BUT I do love vinyl album artwork.

At this point record stores only appeal to a niche customer/dj's but I have fond memories of visiting them when I was younger.
