    "Pope Julius III
One of several popes rumored to have been gay, Julius III was involved in a scandal after he became infatuated with a teenage beggar named Innocenzo. Julius made his brother adopt Innocenzo and then the pope named him a cardinal, GLBTQ.com notes, adding, "the Venetian ambassador reported that Innocenzo shared the pope's bedroom and bed.""

Not surprised at Joan of Arc. It's where the term flaming queer originated.

The only US President who is widely thought to have been gay was James Buchanan who was US President from 1857-1861, elected in 1856. He was the only never married US President The President who followed him was Lincoln. Buchanan is also widely thought to have been one of the worse Presidents and his actions failed to address issues which lead to the US Civil War which began very early in Lincoln's presidency. He was a democrat.

Of course there are rumors about Obama doing coke in the back of a limo and then having some gay sex. Who knows the truth about that one? Probably no one except the two involved if the event even actually happened in the first place.

I have never heard anything about Nixon being gay, bi or anything other than a political animal. The History Channel has aired a piece on Lincoln that suggests he may have had an affair or two but serious historians roundly dismiss this for lack of evidence other than a few letters which used languange which was common in that time but which appeara much more intimate than language used today between straight men. Je also often slept in the same bed with some men but that was extremely common at that time.

Isaac Newton was long thought to be completely sexless and disinterested in all human relationships, but recently a collection of his letters was discovered in a university archive in the US and they reveal a passionate affair with a younger Swiss guy from Basle.

Are you the one starting those rumours? We already know Obama is a Communist Muslim Kenyan, I didn't know he was a gay cokehead too.

Hmm, prepare for the Republican campaign machine to start cranking out the negative spin.

What are you talking about? No one has waited for her to die to start.

Why are so many people obsessed with the sexuality of others? Observationally, it may often be to validate their own sexuality.

If you want to know if a particular man is gay, ask him. If he doesn't tell you (or can't because he is dead), move on, its none of your business. Everyone's sexuality is personal and private, and they will display or reveal it at their own discretion and interest.

Further, I would say, don't ask them unless you are interested in pursuing a relationship which would involve sexual activity, and such relationship would be reasonably possible. Otherwise, it's inappropriate and doesn't matter. Further, don't ask someone else. That would be entirely inappropriate. In my opinion. :^)

I have a hard time believing very many Historic Figures are "secretly" transgender.

Srsly: why is T always reflexively tacked on to the end of that? Sexuality and gender dysmorphia are different things.

This is widely assumed to be true in the right-wing-crank-o-sphere.
Normal people haven't even heard of this piece of silliness, but I read freerepublic. from time to time.

    Now is it?

I've never heard of it and you don't get much crankier than me.
