planned on wearing spring blazer with khakis.. but is this too informal for a "black tie optional" wedding?

should I be safe and wear my grey work suit with a tie?

I would wear the suit. You can always ditch the jacket to get a more relaxed look if nobody else dresses up.

I agree - go with your suit (your darkest one if you have several) with a tie.

Just as an aside - the host shouldn't be stipulating "black tie optional" and instead, an event should be black (or white) tie - or NOT. Reason being - it is a bit odd seeing a room full of people - some formally dressed, and some not. The black tie people would feel overdressed, and the others might feel under.

i agree with above... so wear the suit... better to be overdressed, than under. you can always chuk the jacket, tie, and roll up ur sleeves... have fun.
