At least it's good to hear that China has a thriving group committed to stop animal cruelty. http://news.petpardons.com/stolen-pets-rescued-from-chinese-meat-slaughter/

Love dogs, but what really differentiates them from other animals bred as cattle for slaughter? I do not support the suffering of animals (as these dogs were, packed into painful conditions, in addition to some of them being stolen pets, which is evil) but the only reason why this story is recognized at all is because the animals were dogs.

I think I might get some funny looks if I hijacked a truck full of chickens and set them free. Or waylaid a transport vehicle with salmon fingerlings and liberated them into the nearby river.

After paying $27/day to board my dog while on vacation last week, I think it woulda been more cost effective to sell her to the Chinese for dinner. icon_lol.gif

Humans are animals too, we just prioritize those we love more.

Because these were stolen pets, therefore slaughtering them would be especially wrong.

Long-pig is traditionally a preferred taste of non-family members. Therefore, in this particular case the ones which are less loved are eaten first.

Some of the dogs were wearing collars, tags and even clothing. If you can't see how wrong this is then there's no use talking to you. icon_rolleyes.gif

These were stolen pets. Aren't there dogs that are specifically bred for food, though?

    This is cruel.

However, many Americans eat pigs which are (generally) more intelligent than dogs and also very social animals. Just something to think about.

This is disgusting, and so is the way we treat animals in factory farms. Two wrongs, after all, do not make a right.
    And good for the rescuers.
Personally, I'm moving towards going vegetarian.

This is actually kind of funny. I mean, who steals peoples' pets to eat them?

Do you stand for anything or ever have a favourable opinion on any of the topics in discussion? You have this ongoing pattern of playing devil's advocate in ever thread you contribute toward.

You're obsessed with trying to make other people look like hypocrites ALL THE FUCKING TIME. It's getting old....

Why do you even care? Probably just does it for the lulz.
