I just recently lost my big sis Katia to cancer and thought I would share a bit of her story. She was diagnosed with cervical cancer which metastasized to her stomach, this caused a bowel blockage. She could no longer fight as hard as she could due to not being able to eat and digest properly. Seeing someone wither away and not being able to do a damn thing about it was quite possible one of the worst times of my life.

What brings warmth to my heart is seeing her 3 children share her likeness and smile. I came out to her and she just batted her eyes and said "Ha! I knew that since you were 14 icon_eek.gif I smiled and she said she didn't care what I was, always her brother no matter what.

Here's to great sisters and brothers, love them always.
One of her favorite songs from our youth back in Indio, CA.

Sorry to hear of your loss. It is so hard to lose someone so close.

My sister, Anne, died of pancreatic cancer last august. She was diagnosed about this time last year. It was terminal, so I appreciate your feelings of not being able to help her. Similar undignified things happened to my sister due to complications.

She was the youngest of three girls, but still my big sister.

It will get better with time, though you`ll never be the same again.

    Best wishes.

Your sister was taken too soon and you are too young to have suffered such loss.

It has to be so much harder to lose a sibling than a parent. It must be like losing a lover because we expect them to be with us for the length of our lives whereas we expect our parents to predesease us.

If you still have your parents, remember that as tough as this is on you, your parents have been living their lives fully expecting to predesease their children. So for them this is devastating. Be their comfort.

    Peace.

I am truly sorry to hear about your sister.

My mother, who I had a very close relationship with, passed away a little over two years ago. Thankfully I have a lot of good memories. I am sure you do too.

Sorry to hear about your sister, Bustamante.

My stepfather is in his last days now. He's 96 and his body has outlived his mind. A first generation American, he's had a wonderful, long life and a damn good one.

But endings are always difficult to bear.

    My best to you.
