It is not polite to honk in traffic. It taks at least one hand off the wheel for too long.

Nor should you blow your horn. It is noisy.

Of course some are noisy when they honk, but that is another matter.

Can I blow the horn of the driver if I'm in the passenger seat....I promise I'll be extra quiet ;D

You'll be getting the horn and the finger. That's no hands on the wheel.

I'm planning on getting one of those novelty horns. Like the ones that play La Cucaracha or sound of a cow mooing. icon_lol.gif

I prefer loading up with insurance and just ramming them off the road. icon_twisted.gif

I've become very Zen about driving, I stay calm, leave distance, don't accelerate fast, get in the lane I need to be in as soon as possible, use my turn signal, etc.

I find it pisses people off, and that pleases me.

Honking the horn used to be used to alert another driver that he was in danger of hitting someone else's car.
Now, honking just means, "FUCK YOU !!!!!!!!!!!"

I don't think honking is that one dimensional. I think it has a rich tapestry of meanings, including "Fuck my life" "I hate everyone because I hate being here" "Dear god why, why, WHY, where did I go wrong in my life", "Die, all of you, DIE", "Bored...gonna honk...gonna honk again...and again...", "......".

Now if only we could rewind a few years and have trucks with loaded gun racks.
Drivers were VERY courteous back then. icon_lol.gif

Every time I see this thread pop up I see Hooking instead of honking.

It made me think that hooking might actually create more traffic... deep thoughts for a Friday... icon_redface.gif

Does any country have the custom of honking on the road for God knows how long before and after a wedding to celebrate the holy matrimony of the groom and his magnificent bride?

    We do.
