    For people on Facebook:

I find that I can only take so much of people posting links to cool viral videos and captioned cat pictures, so I've unsubscribed from a lot of people's updates, especially the ones that post a dozen times a day.

    How about you?

Of course - folks who for one reason or another I don't want to completely unfriend but don't want to see. Either because they post way to much or they sound like the RJ conservaposse.

all the time- I have a couple people who I unsuscribed completely from because of multiple status updated per day that scream "attention whore."

The worst is when guys post pictures of themselves in mirrors to see how many likes from other gays they can get

I agreed to 'remain friends' with an ex, not a good idea if you want to get over someone, much easier to do if you are unsubscribed.

    That's silly.
Facebook is a valuable way for me to stay in contact with my children, my nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins.....we have a huge family spread out in France, Belgium, Germany, Canada, Australia, Mexico and South Africa.. There is no other way for us to stay in touch.

e-mail? ..OK, I'm being a smartass...You make sense, and I am not an unreasonable guy. But those people who have 8000 "friends" are nuts. I joined at the insistence of a friend who wanted me to see some family pics. In a matter of 3 days I got messages from people who I haven't seen nor heard from in 35 years--including details of their recent hip replacements and their kids' accomplishments.

I quit facebook right then and there.

I had this friend who kept sending me farmville requests. Eventually, I tried to unsubscribe to game updates but they just kept on coming. So I just removed him from my friendlist instead.

I'm also not on facebook because of even more disapproval from my parents about how to run my life as an adult and what to have and not have on my profile, constant ads targeted toward gay single men (some of which are not appropriate to have on my screen if at work), and all the superficial people I thought were my friends who really weren't just stalking me and waiting for me to make a mistake. Additionally, talking to people online is not the same as having a real life social life where you talk to people face to face.

There's no need for the world to know everything about me at all times. It will fail soon. Same with Twitter. I get ENOUGH from email and text messaging blowing up my phone...who needs a facebook/twitter app to blow it up even more?!? I can't even keep up with the daily news for my profession with my current schedule (will be able to once I graduate...)...who has time for facebook???

My limit is 300 friends. Whenever I hit 301, I start sending people to the guillotine.

Hell yeah , I'm tired of those "going to the gym to work off my lunch" to which four hours later becomes the "gone drinking with mah boys" status. Omg and don't get me started at the start of every wkend where people posts, "blah blah drinking blah blah blah". Or they post tumblr posts or YouTube videos. Ugh unsubscribed!!

I'm a big fan of the unsubscribe button!

Why do these people think their lives are so interesting?

and NO I am not going to pray for someone's dog who is having surgery.... that's an auto-unsubscribe!

That's funny you mention the pray for your dog. I see posts often of people memorializing the death of family members, pets, etc. "God bless blah blah for giving us so many years of happiness. We really miss you." And then they get 50 likes from people who don't even know their relative, and in many cases, haven't seen their friend who posted it in decades.

I especially get tired of cute little sayings. But then again, I think people have a hard time figuring out what to post. I usually post a few nature pictures I took or something I made, or a funny muse. I'm sure thats just as uninteresting to others.

I haven't unsubscribed, but I don't pay that much attention, I just don't have the time. I do respond to those that catch my attention, but never go out of my way.

Yes I have however its usually conservative right-wing family members and church people that I grow up with. Sometimes they need to be told they are spreading propaganda and that they need to educate themselves before posting. Needless to say it has caused some awkward moments and most likely for some of them, reason to unsuscribe to my postings, lol.
