So, I have to do my homework and research, i know.
But RJ is usually very helpful in giving good advice about travel.

So, I'm going to Mykonos between July and August for 4 days. What are the main activities I should do / places I should go / attend, etc...

And I don't mean necessarily gay-related activities, as Mykonos is notorious for its gay scene. Any "treasure" and "less-known" activities to do are welcome also.

So, whoever has some info and is willing to share it, I will be thankful icon_smile.gif

You're going at a great time.

    - Definitely walk through the cobblestone streets in the main part of town and enjoy some great shopping, and don't forget to have a crepe at one of the many crepe stands. It's a great place to just wander and get lost.

    - at night "Jackie O's" is a fun place, very gay, very packed with men from all over the world

    - Happy Hour is a must at the Hotel Elysium pretty much every night (4:30pm-6:30pm is prime time). It's on the hill overlooking the bay, and the sunset is incredible from there. I think the Happy Hour is called "Sunset Bar". Most people on the island don't even think about dinner before 9:30/10pm, if not later.

    - Two best beaches are Paradise and Elia, I preferred Elia because it has a more cosmopolitan feel and better places to eat. You can get there by shuttle, or if you're adventurous you can rent mopeds or ATC's for the day and ride there -- very fun!

Rent ATCs for an afternoon and go check out a smaller beach or winery!

Is Greece a safe place to be right now? If the Euro collapses you might be stranded on the island for like a good half year and they might end up selling you for some food

I'd love nothing more than to get stranded on Mykonos for a year....being sold for food? Not so much icon_lol.gif

Did you notice how everyone, their mother and their alien penpal replied in this thread when you bumped it?

It was sitting there with no replies for a good two weeks. Should I feel miserable? icon_razz.gif

There are some great places to explore by ATV on the east side of the island. Some very desolate and remote where you might not see any people/traffic for hours. It can be very hilly and rocky so this is not recommended if you rent a moped. I got up early one morning and found a deserted beach to watch the sunrise. Allow about 45 mins to 1 hour to travel there since ATV's aren't super fast.

As far as the party beaches go, the most popular are "Super Paradise" and "Elia". They will be even more packed if you are there when a cruise ship is in port. Be sure to explore the rocky trails on the peninsula west of the cove. Also some great areas to swim and snorkel over there.

This was 5 years ago so I'm not sure what the mood is like on the island now that the country is on the verge of collapse. Just be cautious as I'm sure some vendors will be trying to take advantage of the tourists but overall it's very safe and welcoming there.

Dude, I went to Mykonos in June of 2011....
fucking the most beautiful place on earth. I hope you can rent a car, because that is the best way to see the island. It is simply breath-taking.... check out Paradise beach and "Super Paradise beach"..... crystal clear water, I mean it's just.....i can't even describe it.

But do rent a car, thats the best way to see it....Just drive around check out the island, there is a gorgeous view around every corner. I see why Greek gods were created there or whatever.

Also, try and check out the island if ios if u can....and santorini. omg

I echo every single bit of this advice, especially Elia. Heading to Mykonos in July myself; love the place.

Another non-gay recommendation is travel to Kiki's for lunch around 2pm. Packed place on the northern part of the island. Off the beaten track and a hidden gem, but superb grilled chicken, calamari, salads.

Eat in little venice, rent an atv go down the dirt roads, get drunk , Jackie O's is a good bar for that, go to the tourist beaches, pull up on an empty beach and work on your tan, Eat the fresh seafood n greek salads, have sex sith a hot british guy (highly recomended)That should keep it covered for a couple of days.
