Samantha Jones in SATC (The Movie)

Now I don’t really know if I were disappointed with SATC the movie or myself. But I was left feeling depressed. Feeling quite lost, even. It would be pointless attacking the characters one by one but I can’t help but question Samantha’s decision to leave her one true love to return back to the city before she hits the big five-o.
Was this the idea of an aging, bitter, gay scriptwriter? Yes, Samantha’s become the foremost gay icon among the four, but was there really a need for her character to succumb to such gay stereotype ending? I mean, she ended up being the oldest and unmarried among her best mates! Why the decision? Is it because she felt compelled to leave a relationship so she can justify getting back to her bed-hopping ways before the next hot guy realizes that she is old enough to be his mum (or older)? Making the most of her remaining youthful appearance (and figure!) by getting laid left, right, center, sides --and back?
What pisses me off is how she’s become such a stereotype promiscuous gay man: still sowing his wild oats at 50!*** Yes, I am furious! The line “I love you but I love me more” worked once. And it did work well having said that to her then bf, Richard Wright. ‘Cos it was Richard who was not worth settling for. I know Sam Jones made it clear in the series that she is not the marrying type, but for the love of sex, would you really leave the young 'AbsolutHunk' of a man who stood by you and proven his worth? I hope I misunderstood the storyline here but it may take me a long time before I can see the movie again and buy in the plot and subplots. I doubt if it would grow on me the way Kylie’s “X” album did.
Oh yeah, on another note, where the fuck was Marcus!?! *pfft!*

You know... I was really glad Samantha did that.
There are people, who live with the idea that they are incomplete until they find The One. And there are people who don't icon_smile.gif I believe Sam simply wanted to live her life for herself. Yes, it's nice to have someone who cares for you and loves you, but she has her friends for that. And what happens when you get into a serious relationship? My home becomes our home, WE like the movie, WE don't go to that restaurant, WE are not coming because HE's not feeling well... I mean, there are people, who can't handle the WE-way of life. And I think I'm one of those people ... I live for ME. And I want to keep it that way.

Yes, I'm only 17 and she's almost 50. But so what? Who said that one has to be lonely if he's alone?

Lucky you, the movie is banned here in this forward CUNTry! I was rather disappointed with it. I thought I'd sob, but I didn't even come close to crying. Did you? What scene?
There were strong moments too like when Charlotte yelled an angry “No!” to Mr. Big while pulling away Carrie from him in that street scene. But the mood was rather ruined when Charlotte walked like a silly duck back to the limo with Carrie. icon_mad.gif

Yeah, that really was a strong moment. The whole thing with the wedding was very emotional.
I didn't cry icon_razz.gif It takes a different kind of movie to make me cry.

But the one thing I really HATED is that they played How Can You Men A Broken Heart by Al Green during the scene where Miranda and Steve got back together and had sex. Damn... I love this song and it has a totally different meaning ...

I am proud of Samantha she was following her heart. It is stupid to believe that we have to settle down to be happy. Her age shouldn't matter, it is what is in her heart. Yeah the guy was a stud. Samantha wasn't happy and that is why she left him. I am happy and I a single. There is nothing wrong with that.

I wouldn't know it even if my life depended on it --I've just had my own share of men from Sofia, that's all.

First of all it's a fictional story and as entertaining as i do find it, the intention is to be overly dramatic and reaching beyond the realms of reality.

Secondly I thought they were making an important point regarding Samantha maybe being coupled up isn't the ultimate route to happiness and some people are more suited to being single and the company of a good friends rather than a relationship. Aka it can still be a happy ending even if they don't get married and ride of into the sunset.

Thirdly is it not slightly unsettling that she's considered a gay icon simply because she's a sluticon_confused.gif
