This actually sounds really cool. It makes me wish I was a little more flexible and into yoga. I loved studying the hero's journey in school.

Most people (especially men) don't come to yoga already flexible. Yoga helps us become more flexible. If you are drawn to the practice, you should follow that impulse, brother. Find a good teacher and you'll be amazed how far you can go.

I tried yoga because a friend was teaching it. I found it more useful for quieting the mind than liking the sort of exercises/stretches they do.

My teaching style incorporates meditation and breath work to quiet the mind, yogic philosophy to expand the perspective, and posture sequences designed to build strength and muscle while at the same time increasing flexibility. It can all be done, you just need to find a teacher that combines all of these elements.
