I am a sucker for those diva's. Martha Wash, Deb Cox, and Jennifer Holliday. The later being the most powerful voice I've ever heard. listening to them is like one huge Gay Fantasia. After a good dose of any or all I have to say dude and sup ten times to come back down out of the rafters LOL ( not really ) icon_lol.gif

I was in tears upon learning that Black Box and C&C Music Factory were busted for using Matha as a ghost singer! Though I'm more inclined to smooth jazz, have you heard the voice of Maysa Leak --OMG, I LOVE HER --with or without Incognito!!!
I feel so stupid, I should've scribbled "RealJock123" on a piece of paper before taking that pic earlier. LOLLLLLL!!!
    p.s.
I swear, I was a big soul sistah in my previous life!!!

As much as I love Martha, the true, lasting love of my life has been the late, great Izora Armstead, Martha's one time singing partner.

I used to call Izora the "brick- breaker" because her voice could shatter concrete! I've had the pleasure of seeing Martha and Izora perform live in concert twice. I was left spiritually and sonically devastated both times and never recovered.

I deeply respect the fact that these women never truly left gospel, even in the heyday of their dance club success.

Martha and Izora: the real deal. As Sylvester used to say: "Your ear would have to be in your foot to not be able to hear that these women can sang!"

I would add that anybody not feeling these girls need to "...buy a coffin and lay their dead ass down!"

I've seen Maysa perform live as well, less than a year ago. Fabulous show!

Ooooo That's the kinda love that never dies haha. I'm sad that I missed that era of (actual live) singing.

Too bad everyone needs some kind of sound editing filter to make themselves sound good now n days.
