So I was at the Abbey last night, a gay bar in West Hollywood, and I meet this guy who is a casting director for Saun Cody and said I would be perfect to do a solo scene and they pay 5 grand a shoot. I was wondering would anyone else do porn if they got the offer and has anyone else on this site done it themselves? If you have how has it affected your life afterwards?

I did a couple of times when I was very young living in SF, needed some extra cash and I was curious. It was an interesting experience. I found the people to be extra sleezy but I kind of liked that. As far a my life goes, it did not change a thing. If someone as ugly as me can do it though, anyone can. I guess it would depend upon the quality of the film you wanted to appear in.

well... unless it's the kinky kind... where they don't are about what your body looks like... as long as you can do whatever sex things they tell you to...

    then definitely not hahaha

Before you take this guy up on the offer, I urge you to seriously think about the career doors you may be slamming shut with this film.

A cop in Hollywood FL was just suspended this week for having appeared in a porn video.

But not just police--public office, corporate jobs, etc. This can easily come back to haunt you in the internet age.

    Even at $5000 per--uhhhh--shoot.

Many moons ago I was offered a chance to do one but I turned it down. I'm sure it would have made little difference now if I had done it.

Money comes, money goes so unless you are hurting for the cash, don't do it just for the money.

Don't expect to be the next Tom Cruise if you do a porn. A career in public service would not be in the cards for you either.

Also, keep in mind how as to how you might deal with future co-workers. There was a girl at one job who had done some nudes for Playboy. She became very uncomfortable and eventually quit because guys were always bugging her or people were making fun of her, not really taking her seriously.

There was another guy I worked with who I thought was gay but denied it vehemently. I found him on the cover of a porn and told everyone at work. He got really mad at me and I got in trouble. It was not cool of me to do it but I hate hypocrites.

However, the most important "career doors" are the ones you make for yourself.

Even if I could do porn, I don't think I would. Especially today when everything is digital and accessible to EVERYONE, I'd be too nervous. Like others have said, you never know how that might come back later to bite you in the ass.

I'm guessing if it was back in the day when things were on tapes and in stores only, it's be easier to "get away with it". But, you do it now and everyone is going to see it.

I haven't done it and I know I'd never get asked, but I completely agree with jprichva on this. I'd take it as a 5K compliment, say thank you, and then move on.

Conversely, I'd never dismiss any guy out of hand that had done porn or actually had that as a profession. As long as he met the 'basic criteria' to date, why not, it's just another job. I find it kind of funny that the stigma and stereotype is largely unchanged in the last thirty years (probably more, though I wasn't aware of it prior to that.)
I have met a few, and though I never dated one, I found them to be no different than anyone else in the sense of variety of qualities of a man that they do or don't have. I'd say that I've mat many more men with the negative attributes, stereotypical of a porn star than pron stars who met the stereotype.

Yep, right. (see Madonna's old problems). Unless it's for homeporno collection..

But, if you are.. Paris Hilton etc - never doubt icon_biggrin.gif
Though you might not need those 5G at all.. just for PR icon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gif
The world nowadays is digital, accessible and very PR.

thanks you all. And I understand what you are all talking about. But yet he works for playgirl also which would be easier for me to do than a video. But I understand exactly what you all where talking about in career choices. The only real reason is the cash to be honest. I have to pay for college cuz my parents wont pay, but I dont apply for any financial aid because they make too much money according to their taxes. So I it seams on the money side like a good idea but on the career side a horrible one. I mean the economy is going down the shitter and college prices keep going up and I wont be able to pay for college with my fucking Olive Garden Server job! I would love to work for a nice restaurant down in LA but I dont have any connections so I can't even do that. And with the economy going down the tube my tips get less and less and I cant even move out of my house now without a better job. So I feel like I am stuck between a rock and a hard place. And I am a very hard worker very determined yet no one will give you a helping hand in LA so I am just Fucked!

Before you do something you'd regret, talk to other waiters at other restaurants. Find out how they broke into the finer establishments. Did they take classes in culinary science at the local college? I think it's a mistake to assume it was just "connections" that gets you into a better restaurant. It's knowing how to be a good server in a place like that.

I know actors who got their starts by being in the right restaurant at the right time, yet they did not "know" anyone to get into the restaurant business. They educated themselves at UCLA or a local junior college or a culinary school.

I agree with others who posted here. While $5000 is a lot of money, and it would be the expedient thing to do to grab that offer, it's liable to be a mistake that will haunt you the rest of your life. It may be more difficult to take other more difficult approaches, but, man, you are so young. Your life is ahead of you. Don't mess it up by taking the piece of candy that is easy to reach for.

well my community college doesn't have any classes like that so I wouldn't even know where to take them. Also I have three friends who have tried to get these jobs and the only way they ever even got to a face to face interview was because they knew someone on the inside

Go-go dance at a good gay bar with plenty of old men for a month and you should make the same amount, without a video of you naked for the rest of your life.

I'd vote with most of the other guys on here and advise you not to take the $5k. You'd hate it if some recruiter in your future found your pix and eliminated you from a great promotion because of it.

As for porn - I've never done it but I did charity modeling when I was in my 20s and 30s - rarely - for Saks Fifth Avenue - and know what? I felt like a piece of meat - or furniture - like a walking mannequin - it was brainless.

Don't do it...because the day will come when you will soooo wish you hadn't, and then it is too late. That stuff will be floating out there of you forever.

P.S. and check your email, perhaps we can get you a job at THE ABBEY :-) (Let's just say I know people :lolicon_smile.gif

Yeah I wouldn't do that. It could be hot at the moment, but it's not a one time thing. Doing porn is not something that's over once it's done, it can keep coming back to haunt you. If you're looking for decent money with flexible hours and don't mind getting naked, you could try being a figure drawing model at a local university.

If you do decide to do porn, reconsider before running for public office or becoming a cop.

I totally agree. $5000 in the short term sounds great but a job that pays over a 100 gand a year could be at risk.

I wouldn't do it. And there are lots of guys out there who don't find it attractive either. I won $150 in a best ass contest once and it felt great at the time.. however two years later looking back on it I wouldn't have done that because it feels cheap.

What seems great today might not be who you are 10 years down the road and you'll have to live hoping something like a video wont pop up again.

The Hollywood Florida cop is Mikey V. from HGTV's Design Star. I thought he was gay and then they said he came out to his job in 2004. He did a porno called "Rope Rituals" back in 1996.

    He was a cutie!

I hope he doesn't lose his job over this since this was before he joined the police.

That's really fucked up on your part. If he's a coworker and the relationship you have with him is strictly professional why do you feel its your right to know his sexuality?

You're right, it was NOT cool of you to show the magazine to everyone. And I wouldn't assume a guy is gay if he posed for a professional magazine. Unless it explicitly said he was gay I would assume that he was hired as a model to grace the cover and nothing more. That was childish on your part.

I second that! So uncool, and mean, and karma is such a beyotch!

Haven't we all met 'casting directors' at one time or another in a gay bar?
