I got my first tattoo today. It's on the hip bone, which I'm told is the most painful place to get one. I was really freaked out beforehand because I tend to faint when I'm overly stressed, and I thought it was going to be incredibly painful, as everyone always says it is. It hurt a bit, but the hype around pain from tattoos seems wildly excessive.

Other's who've been tattooed, did you find it less painful than you were expecting? Worse?

Just as how my tattoo artist described it:
"LIKE A TRAIL OF SIMULTANEOUS ANT BITES."
Exactly.

oh god...here we go with the 'fancy talk' again.

translation:

Sed: "omg omg omg...I got a new burka!"

Zim: "bitch, I am not putting that thing on just so u can get your freak on! I do not roll that way!"

p.s. My tatt hurt, but not too bad. I was surrounded by hot frat boys so it would not have done my ego good to cry or scream out loud...

I've got an ankle band, goes all the way around just above the ankle bone, the worst part of it was right at the ankle bone, where he was against the bone. other than that it wasn't too bad, But it's been 12 years, so my memory may not be that correct.
when he was going across the achilles tendon, my foot did start to bounce a little which was weird.

You have to pay me very many dollahs first.

Okay, I'm good today.

"Puta" = From spanish 'Puta', whore
"Ina" = Tagalog, short form of "Nanay", mother

"Putang Ina Mo" literally means "Your mother is a whore" or "Your whore of a mother...!"

It's a roundabout way of saying "Sonofabitch!".

Gimme cookie nao.

it not really how much it hurts, but how long it hurts.

my tat took three hours. that's three hours of constant stabbing with tiny tiny needles, and a lot of blood being wiped off.

and then there's the next couple of days where it's like a mild sunburn.

nothing too painful, but it's a dull constant that goes on for a while.

My first tat, tribal sun between my shoulders, felt like someone running a nail around in circles. Second tat, on the outside of my shoulder, was just a constant numbing sensation. Can't wait for my next one, just to quiet the wonder of what it will feel like!!!

When I got my first (and so far my only one but not for long) I was so nervous about putting something permanent on my body that I forgot about the pain. It was painful at first and I was in pain. But shortly after some time I think my endorphines kicked in as I got to the point where I couldn't feel it anymore. Glad for that!

I thought it would be worse than it was. After awhile, it was just kind of irritating.

shoulder area's not too painful. It was about what I expected. I liken it to someone using a pen knife to carve a pattern.

my tatt starts at the base of my back and moves upward in 5 parts...every single time that mother fucker hits my spine, the world starts spinning around me... When I first started the process, the artist warned me I may pass out from the spinal hits and to tell him when I get dizzy...otherwise you wake up and jerk...and the tool tatts you where it was meant to, and it aint erasable! I have passed out twice from spinal hits... but we all go back for more...

Mine was less painful than I expected. I also noticed that it hurt more going in certain directions than others--as if my skin had a grain like wood (it was on my shoulder ).
