It really pisses me off when people compare homosexuality to bestiality.

I've known two guys who admitted to me that they're secretly into bestiality. Both of them were straight, and married. They "thought" I would understand. They were wrong.

or that all gays want to cross dress when over 90% of men that cross dress are heterosexual with no desire to be homosexual.

More primitive minded stupidity from the Tennessee state legislature, YAWN.

As a Tennessean it is embarrassing to see that something like this is even considered in our legislator. Not all Tennesseans are like this. Our metro areas are generally pretty open-minded. However, keep in mind that most of the representatives in the state house and senate are from backwoods rural counties and unfortunately their voice is heard is well. Thus is democracy.

I remember after one of my students from fourth grade had grown up and graduated, he came back to see me to tell me he was gay. I hugged him and he said, you knew didn't you? That is why you always had me stay in for recess to help clean the room or stay with you on the playground and pass out the equipment?

I told him I suspected and that I knew his life would be hard enough without dealing with the playground bullies.

The sad part is that I only had him one year and could not protect him the rest of the time. I remember that year, it was 4 kids who I kept close, the other 3 were girls who were teased unmercifully because of buck teeth, eyeglasses, wild hair, wash worn clothes or some other trivial thing. He actually helped them with some of that, he braided hair like a pro, something I couldn't do and wouldn't do.

It was so hard to maintain just the right distance, something I should not have had to do if the admins had ever taken bullying seriously.

I loved George Takei's response to the bill:

Here's Colbert's take on the Missouri law that is similar to the Tennessee one.

You and me both man. And after nearly six years here, as I prepare to move to Atlanta I will be giving my parting professional analysis of this state and its "leadership" in two of my Examiner.com columns.

Have you seen the new Gateway Sex bill they are now trying? Stephen Colbert brilliantly shredded it on his show about a week ago. I'll see if I can find the clip.

I think we should make "book" the new slang, code word for "gay".

Because they were attempting to ban the word "gay" in school and other states are still attempting to do the same thing.

Tennessee’s ‘Don’t Say Gay’ Bill Dies From Extreme Homophobia

    http://thenewcivilrightsmovement.com/tennessees-dont-say-gay-bill-dies-from-extreme-homophobia/politics/2013/03/27/63468

“I’m disappointed,” Rep. Ragan told the AP. “I thought it was a good bill. It was about school safety.”

Because to John Ragan’s mind, LGBTQ children are dangerous and a threat to others –even talking about homosexuality is considered a threat.

Rep. Ragan “had planned to amend the legislation to require principals or counselors to identify students who might be a potential threat, but he never got a chance to do so,” the AP added.
