In light of recent resignation of gay spokesman from Romney campaign, what does that say about Romneys commitment to the LGBT community and gay conservatives who support Romney?

It says Romney hired someone because he was qualified regardless of his sexual orientation. The Romney campaign has stated many times that the gay spokesman being "openly gay" was "a non-issue". I personally think it's a shame that the spokesman stepped down because that only lets the lame critics on the extreme far right who should NOT be cow-towed to win. As for what all of this says about gay conservatives who support Romney, it doesn't say anything.

Of course, what this thread started by you says is that your efforts to bait and attempt some sort of flame war chastising gay conservatives is becoming increasingly pathetic -- but carry on. icon_rolleyes.gif

Romney has flip flopped on so many issues that he is too dizzy to remember what he supports and why.

As for gay conservatives, they could care less as long as they dont have to pay their fair share of taxes.

It also says religious conservatives keep Romney on a very short leash.

If Romney can't hire one gay guy BEFORE he gets elected, what happens when he no longer needs to fool people that he's only anti-gay on public policy?

It says nothing of the kind. Romney hired this openly gay man. He probably had no idea at the time that the openly gay man would not be able to take the heat. I'm not in any way justifying the heat he took --- obviously, this is very disappointing and unfortunate --- but equally unfortunate is that the gay spokesman didn't weather the storm and not allow the religious conservatives to win.

You really will believe anything. Grenell was hired to signal to the independents and moderates that he's really one of fhem. The far right understands this, that's why they were so outraged.

The Romney campaign has stated many times that the gay spokesman being "openly gay" was "a non-issue".

You mean if they say it 'several times' it stops being spin?

I personally think it's a shame that the spokesman stepped down because that only lets the lame critics on the extreme far right who should NOT be cow-towed to win.

Bryan Fischer knows that Grenell didn't 'step down'. My dog knows that Grenell didn't 'step down'. They, and everyone else on the planet, know that Grenell was forced to walk the plank.

You're entitled to your opinion. I don't agree that he was forced to step down by the Romney campaign. Grenell has always been a very outspoken "out and proud" gay. It was no secret before Romney hired him. Grenell strikes me as the type that, IF it were true that he were being forced out by the Romney campaign, that he would not go down quietly, and that he would let everyone know it. He has stated consistently, as has the Romney campaign, that stepping down was HIS decision because it had become a distraction. Again, I think him stepping down --- if indeed "it was HIS decision" ---- was a short-sighted mistake on his part.

From what I understand, a big bunch of it also came from the left ... similar to what we see somewhere else I can think of.

Yeah, he worked for 43 and was hired with full knowledge of the orientation plus he also worked for John Bolton.

Incorrect. It means that if you have a differing opinion than Catfish, it means it should be expressed basic on a logical and grounded argument, which you largely did, Todd, until the last comment, whiich made it fail. Leave out
    personal criteria in an argument.

This commentary on Catfish just adds to a general lack of credibility while expressing a difference of opinion. LOL

But, but, but I love me some catfish. My personal favorite is "Lemon & Pepper Catfish"

and "Carolina Catfish Stew" is enough enough to make even YOU vote Republican....

    CAROLINA CATFISH STEW
2 or 3 slices salt pork (can substitute bacon)
    1 lg. onion, chopped
2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
    1/4 tsp. oregano
    2 bay leaves
    1 clove garlic, minced
    Worcestershire sauce
1 to 1 1/2 lbs. catfish filet, cut into bite-size chunks
    Hot cooked rice
In large pot, cook salt pork until crisp, then remove. Add chopped onion and garlic, and cook in drippings until translucent and soft. Add tomato sauce and paste and water (4 cups more or less). Season with oregano, bay leaves, 2 dashes or Worcestershire sauce and salt and pepper to taste. Simmer for 30 minutes. Add catfish and cook for 15 minutes more.
    Serve in bowls over rice.

Add a dash of Tabasco sauce to make it more spicy, if desired.

The thing about this, that is so amazing to me is that our gay republicans will go to any length, any extent, and produce any amount of excuses to make the repubs actions OK with them. Nothing makes a dent in their love of the Repub status quo. absolutely nothing.

If the godam devil himself ran as a Republican they'd manage to come up with some excuse to back the idiot to their own demise. What makes people so loyal to factions that destroy the country they love and the very core of their being ? Is it their religious beliefs behind this ? What the hell is it ? Its beyond me !!!

Actually I've provided that answer for you before. But it wasn't popular among the conservaposse here, needless to say, who went ballistic, and unleashed a rabid torrent of personal attacks on me, that continue to this day. Follow the logic of your questions, and you will have your answer. Just don't post it here, if you know what's good for you.

Why on earth would you hope that? Why even seriously hope?

I've known about him for a very long time in republican circles. I think maybe back to Bill Weld's gubernatorial campaign in 1990 or 92. I had been openly out at that time for 20 years longer so I generally heard about it if I had another ‘sister’ in the ranks.
