I'm moving to Dallas in about a week for a summer job. I don't really have any gay friends in town, so could you all recommend things or events to do/check out? I currently only know of that block in Oak Lawn that's more gay-centric. Otherwise, I'm not too familiar with anything.

Also, what's a good gym to join? I'm thinking of doing 24 hour downtown since I could use that membership in Houston/Austin too.

Anyhow, tell me everything there is to know! icon_smile.gif

Depends on where u live/work. Dallas is a large, spread out city with many burbs. Im assuming u will be close to downtown.

Lots of stuff to do in uptown. Not so gay centered. More youth centered with bars, restaurants, popular hang outs.

Oaklawn has the gay bars and gay centered neighborhoods.

24 hour fitness downtown, golds gym in uptown, Equinox are poular gyms.

No kidding. Driving through Fort Worth after spending my life in Minneapolis, I was shocked to see that you couldn't even see the skyscrapers from the North edge of town by the Speedway. I didn't go through Dallas, but I can easily imagine it's the same way.

But sorry for derailing this thread. I'd love to go back to the metroplex eventually, so I'll keep tabs on this thread.

    Thanks...

Yeah, going to be living in/near Downtown (not sure of geography and what is/isn't considered DT).

can you (or anyone) be more specific with gay things? like bars, events, etc?

how is the 24 hour fitness downtown? is it mainly overweight, middle-aged men going in after work or people who are seriously into it? i've heard good things about golds, but since houston doesn't have one, it makes it impractical. same thing with equinox (although the $$$$ is also a factor for that one)
