Do you want to date/be with a guy that looks like you?

David Cross has this funny bit about gay guys in a relationship looking the same. I was at the supermarket yesterday, and saw two big beefy guys, in their mid-late thirties. Same haircut, same build, same height, same jaw line, getting food from the salad bar that looked about the same. About the only really different looking thing about them was their hair color. They were both hot! and obviously a couple. And this isn't that unusual to see here in Vancouver.

I love my partner, and he doesn't look much like me.

So, would you like to be with someone that looks like you?

Nah, we have mirrors for that! They do say the birds of a feather flock together, and I guess when you see a couple that resemble twins it's likely a bit of mutual admiration going on, imitation being the sincere-ist form of flattery. Bill and I go through periods in our long history where we both sport beards or wear each other's clothes, (a turn on, that )but dating someone who looks like me would feel a bit incestuous or clonish, same for my Hub.

Only looks like me? I guess .. looks isn't THAT important to me, besides... I don't look bad, so icon_lol.gif haha

But someone who's character's like mine ... never. Really - I think I'm the worst person one could date icon_biggrin.gif

Yes and no, it depends. The guy I just met, the hottest guy I've ever met, is definitely better looking. I would like to think that I'm a reasonably attractive guy, but he's a straight up ten. Are we similar in some ways, sure, he's also a lifter and has some great muscle, he takes care of his body and it shows. Do we both have shorter hair, yeah, do we probably dress similarly, yeah probably, being in the same age range and being in the same area that's to be expected. The similarities go way beyond that though, for peat sakes we even have the same birthday (no kidding what are the chances of that). What's different, he is 3 to 4 inches taller, he has green eyes (so hot) and I have blue. Jaw lines, well I really hadn't thought of that, I suppose while they aren't identical they are similar, hair color is similar. They're are enough similarities to be interesting but just enough differences that he drives me wild, I don't think I would want to date my twin.

I've never dated anyone that looks like me...but then, I'm not really my type. icon_lol.gif

They've mostly been shorter and slimmer. The last guy was shorter and kind of chunky.

My ex-husband is shorter, skinnier, paler, with dark hair and big brown eyes.

I've dated different types of guys. Shorter, taller, darker, lighter, asian, caucasian, black, even guy's that looked kinda like myself, (which got us asked if we were brothers icon_razz.gif )I believe it's the connection that goes on between 2 people wether you find someone really atractive or not.

I dated a guy with the same name for a few weeks (Ben seems to be a very common gay name I'm finding).

We were the same age, same height, same build, same eye and hair colour (though he did have more hair than me).

It was great time... but didn't last long. It was very strange saying my own name during sex though.

muchmorethanmuscle said I don't find myself sexy so I wouldn't want them to look like me. If I'm ever with someone they are more than likely going to look a lot different than me.

Since I'm "a lot different than" you, I say you take your clothes off and I'll demonstrate how sexy you are, bitch!

Why didn't you take turns in calling the other one "Felicity"? LOLLLLLLLLLL x

Maybe one was cut and the other was uncut? icon_twisted.gif Sorry, I couldn't resist.

To answer your question, meh, the one time I dated a guy that looked a lot like me (someone even asked if we were brothers) it ended in disaster. Take one look at my profile pic and you'll see I went the opposite direction and that's worked out pretty well!

No. Even a guy like me ;-) wouldn't want to display that lofty level of narcissism.
