I could care less if someone "thinks I am a second class citizen."

I DO care about the fact that Obama has ruined what should have been a normal economic recovery, that Obama is added more than $5 trillion in debt in just 39 months, that Obama has blatantly disregarded the Constitution and fundamentally transformed the relationship between the Federal government and citizens with the insurance mandate in Obamacare. I could go on...

It's stunning how many gays are one issue voters.

Well duh. We know you could care less about your freedom and equality: it's called self-loathing. Not stunning at all that those gays who have internalized society's homophobia would work to elect a guy who thinks gays are 3/5ths a person and not deserving of equal rights. Sad, but not stunning. There were a few sad, confused black people who fought for the Confederacy, after all.

Thankfully, most people recognize that liberty and equality are the bedrock of this nation. Too bad only one candidate recognizes that equality extends to gay Americans,

House reaches bipartisan deal to reject Simpson-Bowles

". But the bottom line is the votes, particularly on the Republican side of the aisle, just weren't there for a major compromise. And, as Wednesday’s vote on Simpson-Bowles showed, they're still not there. They're only there for a not-compromise. Preferably a hardcore not-compromise.

Today, Rep. Paul Ryan's budget will come up for a vote in the House. It's expected to pass on a party-line vote. Insofar as any trouble is foreseen, the difficulty is that many conservatives consider Ryan's budget too compromised and incrementalist. I'll repeat that: They consider Paul Ryan's budget -- which is an undeniably radical, transformational document as compared to the major budget proposals of, oh, the last 50 years -- too compromised and incrementalist.

Meanwhile, Democrats are so uninterested in taking tough votes for doomed bills that they helped Republicans unanimously defeat a version of Obama’s 2013 budget that the GOP brought to the floor. No reason to vote for a tax increase if it’s not going to pass, Democrats figure.

When that's the ideological and political temperature of the two parties, it's not obvious that any amount of leadership from the top can lead to a reasonable, far-reaching deal."

Elect Romney For President 2012 and...

Watch homosexuality be criminalized in several states by the end of his term.

Watch more landlords kick out gays because they can.

Watch more banks foreclose on gays' houses because they can.

Watch more employers fire and/or refuse to hire gays because they can.

Watch DADT get reinstated, if not an outright ban on gays in the military (which is what DADT was originally supposed to prevent).

Watch your husband die alone in the hospital because you have no visitation rights.

Watch gay lynchings become as common as black lynchings were in the 1800's and early 1900's because the law turns a blind eye to it.

Watch yourself in the mirror as you slit your wrist because you finally realized you made a terribly huge mistake by voting away your own rights.

Do you have any recommendations as to what kind of budget we need to have that both parties will agree upon?

Until we get politicians that are willing to work together, I don't see how it will be possible to get a budget passed. It happens on both sides, but t is mostly the Republicans that are less willing to compromise on the budgetary issues.

The government needs to make cuts and increase its revenues. Not just do one of those.

Today, I was asked a direct question and gave a direct answer:

I believe that same-sex couples should be allowed to marry.

I hope you'll take a moment to watch the conversation, consider it, and weigh in yourself on behalf of marriage equality:

    http://my.barackobama.com/Marriage

I've always believed that gay and lesbian Americans should be treated fairly and equally. I was reluctant to use the term marriage because of the very powerful traditions it evokes. And I thought civil union laws that conferred legal rights upon gay and lesbian couples were a solution.

But over the course of several years I've talked to friends and family about this. I've thought about members of my staff in long-term, committed, same-sex relationships who are raising kids together. Through our efforts to end the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy, I've gotten to know some of the gay and lesbian troops who are serving our country with honor and distinction.

What I've come to realize is that for loving, same-sex couples, the denial of marriage equality means that, in their eyes and the eyes of their children, they are still considered less than full citizens.

Even at my own dinner table, when I look at Sasha and Malia, who have friends whose parents are same-sex couples, I know it wouldn't dawn on them that their friends' parents should be treated differently.

So I decided it was time to affirm my personal belief that same-sex couples should be allowed to marry.

I respect the beliefs of others, and the right of religious institutions to act in accordance with their own doctrines. But I believe that in the eyes of the law, all Americans should be treated equally. And where states enact same-sex marriage, no federal act should invalidate them.

If you agree, you can stand up with me here:
    http://www.barackobama.com/stand-with-the-president

    Thank you,

    Barack

I don't understand how you can say that when the Republicans put out a budget proposal that Harry Reid won't even bring up to consider, and for their part, the Senate Democrats have refused to produce a budget plan in over 3 years, violating the Congressional Budget Act of 1974.

Under Obama we have recovered every private sector job lost in the Great (Bush) Recession. If Republicans weren't laying off government workers in the states, we would have had a normal recovery.

But the Repugs weren't interested in that, but instead making Obama "a one-term president". So when he's reelected, with enormous gay enthusiasm, your douchebag party will have inflicted untold pain on the country for no good reason.

    Too long, nobody read.

A short and readable analysis of Romney's position:

Romney does not support gay marriage. Obama does. Romney hates gay couples. Obama doesn't.

Ignorance like not supporting gay marriage, like the ignorant homophobic Republican Mitt Romney, the only Presidential candidate who does not support marriage equality?

Incorrect. We're still down net jobs over 1 million.

The Ryan budget was carefully tailored to try to trap the Democrats.
Reid, wisely, rejected it, because it was not a budget (it contained no details or dollar figures, just vague intentions) and it was a cheap political stunt.

And claiming that it was a serious budget is disingenuous on your part, not for the first time and most likely not for the last.

Why did the Senate not even propose a budget? Don't say they didn't because they knew it would be a waste of time. That would be a poor excuse to ignore the Budget Act.
